Art and culture are popping all across the East End. This week offers plenty of opportunity to attend exhibition receptions, benefits and art-related events. Highlights include the opening of a major Robert Motherwell exhibition at Guild Hall, Discover Watermill Day, where many of the performance art at their famous summer benefit is repeated for the general public, and Author's Night benefiting East Hampton Library. The galleries are in full force with opening receptions for many shows worth seeing. Following is the list of options:

AMAGANSETT 

ARC FINE ART - “Olivia Munroe: Two Elements” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 - 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 19. The show features three bodies of Munroe’s work, “Constructed Collages,” “Edges of Infinity,” and “Histories.” These bodies of work rely on geometric forms to evoke meditative contemplation. EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

EAST HAMPTON LIBRARY – “Authors Night” takes place on Saturday. The Book Signing and Cocktail Reception takes place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Gardiner Farm, 36 James Lane, East Hampton Village, NY 11937. Tickets for the signing and reception are $100.  At 8 p.m., dinner parties with guest authors will be held at private homes throughout the area. ERIC FIRESTONE GALLERY - “Storage Wars” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 - 9 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through September 7. The show is a collaboration with The Hole. Artists on view from Eric Firestone Gallery include Sanford Biggers, Eric Freeman, Max Snow, Eric White, and more. GLENN HOROWITZ BOOKSELLER - “East Hampton Artists & Writers Game Exhibition” is presenting a week-long benefit exhibition from Sunday (August 10) through Sunday (August 17). An Opening Reception will be held on Thursday (August 14) from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will feature works by both artists and writers plus a sale of select vintage t-shirts from previous games. GUILD HALL - “Summer Gala: Celebrating Robert Motherwell: The East Hampton Years, 1944-1952″ takes place on Friday. The event begins at 5 p.m. with an exclusive exhibition preview at Guild Hall. At 7 p.m. there will be cocktails at a private home in Bridgehampton, followed by dinner at 8 p.m. and a live auction. GUILD HALL - "Robert Motherwell: The East Hampton Years, 1944-1952" opens with a Panel Discussion and Opening Reception on Saturday. The Robert Motherwell Panel Discussion takes place from 3 to 4 p.m. and is moderated by Exhibition Curator Phyllis Tuchman. HARPERʼS BOOKS - “Enoc Perez: Summer Job” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 - 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view thorough October 14. Works on view combine found photographs with layers of cutouts by the artist in an exploration of figurative representation. LONGHOUSE RESERVE - “LOOK UP!” takes place this evening (Thursday) at 6 p.m. Philippe Petit will recreate his high-wire walk between NYC’s Twin Towers in 1974. After the performance at LongHouse Reserve there will be music, a reading from Phillipe Petit’s book, “TO REACH THE CLOUDS,” and a private champagne supper at 7 p.m. LongHouse Reserve is located at 133 Hands Creek Road, East Hampton, NY 11937. http://www.longhouse.org.

VERED CONTEMPORARY - “Colin Christian: Cosplay” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 9 - 11 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through September 8. The exhibition features sculptures of re-imagined iconic film, literature, and pop culture characters. Works in the series incorporate motorized LEDs, automotive trim, chrome detailing, and imported hat felt, among other materials. MONTAUK

THE MONTAUK LIBRARY - “The Sundance Trio” Concert takes place on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Sundance Trio includes oboist Geralyn Giovannetti, bassoonist Christian Smith, and pianist Jed Moss.The concert is free.The Montauk Library is located at 871 Montauk Highway, Montauk, NY 11954. www.montauklibrary.org.

NORTH HAVEN

EVELYN ALEXANDER WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTER – “Get Wild” art auction and cocktail party will take place on Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the home of artists April Gornik and Eric Fischl in North Haven, NY. The event features cocktails, light fare and a live auction which can be previewed by clicking here. QUOGUE

WESTHAMPTON BEACH PERFORMING ARTS CENTER – “Be Our Guest” Gala takes place on Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. at a private waterfront estate on Dune Road in Quogue. The benefit includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Cocktail Party tickets are $175. VIP Tickets are $300 and include dinner after the cocktail party. QUOGUE LIBRARY GALLERY – “Gil Ferrer: Organic Marine Scapes” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 4 - 6 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 31. EAST END ARTS & RIVERHEAD STREETS - “JumpstART” takes place on Friday from 5 - 9 p.m. The evening of free public art events in Downtown Riverhead will feature murals, poetry, performances, live music, dance, art installations, and more. For more information, click here.

EAST END ARTS GALLERY - “The Creative Process” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 5 - 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through September 24. GRENNING GALLERY – “Ben Fenske Solo Show” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 - 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 24. ROMANY KRAMORIS GALLERY - “The Raga Portraits” by Christopher Engel has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 - 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 29. “The Raga Portraits” are the artist’s newest series of paintings, created in his Sag Harbor Studio while listening to Ali Akbar Khan’s and Ravi Shankar’s ragas. SAG HARBOR WHALING & HISTORIC MUSEUM - “The Lure of the Striped Bass” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 26. The show is inspired by the Saltwater revolution after WWII where former soldiers became innovators, creating a new way of fishing for striped bass. Participating artists include Paton Miller, Barbara Thomas, Anna Demauro, Lynn Bogue Hunt, David Pintauro, Aage Bjerring, Harry A. Driscole, William Goadby Lawrence, and Nathan Joseph. SOUTHOLD

SOUTHOLD HISTORICAL SOCIETY - “North Fork Annual Juried Art Exhibition” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at the Reichert Family Center. The exhibition remains on view through August 23. The winner of the juried exhibition, which has been narrowed down to 20 works, will be announced at the reception. WATER MILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Brain Food: William Glackens” takes place today (Thursday) at noon. Chief Curator Alicia Longwell will discuss the current exhibition, “William Glackens.” The talk is $10, free for members. “William Glackens” remains on view through October 13. 

PARRISH ART MUSEUM  - “Remembering the Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr.” screens on Friday at 6 p.m. The documentary screening is $10, free for members, children, and students. A Q&A with Co-Director Geeta Gandbhir will follow the screening. Reservations are recommended. 

PARRISH ART MUSEUM  - “Late Night at the Parrish with Brooklyn Rider” takes place on Saturday at 9 p.m. in the Lichtenstein Theater. The concert is co-presented with the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival.

WATERMILL CENTER - “Discover Watermill Day” takes place on Sunday from 3 - 6 p.m. The Watermill Center’s grounds will be open to the public for art installations, performances, workshops, tours, and family activities. Artists from over 30 countries that will be participating in Watermill Center’s International Summer Arts Program will be in attendance.
