Welcome to August! There's plenty of summer benefits to attend throughout August and into September. Highlights include Guild Hall's Summer Gala, Author's Night to benefit the East Hampton Library, an outdoor concert benefiting the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Society, the Artists & Writers Celebrity Softball Game and the chance to "Get Wild" at Eric Fischl and April Gornik's benefiting the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center.

Following is the list of benefit celebrations raising needed funds and making everyone a winner.

August 2, 2014 (Saturday) 

BRIDGEHAMPTON CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY at ATLANTIC GOLF CLUB - “2014 Benefit - An Evening to Celebrate” takes place on August 2 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by cocktails and dinner at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds support the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival. August 3, 2014 (Sunday) 

PECONIC LAND TRUST at WARD’S POINT - “Through Farms and Fields Country Supper 2014” takes place on August 3 beginning at 5 p.m. The benefit includes dinner, wine, and an online and silent auction. An individual ticket is $350. A Sponsor and Patron Reception will be held at 4 p.m. The event benefits the Peconic Land Trust. Ward’s Point is located on Shelter Island, NY. www.peconiclandtrust.org. August 8, 2014 (Friday) 

GUILD HALL - "Summer Gala: Celebrating Robert Motherwell: The East Hampton Years, 1944-1952" takes place on August 8. Begins at 5 p.m. with an exclusive exhibition preview at Guild Hall. At 7 p.m. there will be cocktails at a private home in Bridgehampton, followed by dinner at 8 p.m. and a live auction. Dessert and dancing follows at 9:30 p.m. Guild Hall is located at 158 Main Street, East Hampton, NY 11937. www.guildhall.org.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - “Be Our Guest” Gala takes place on August 8 from 6 - 8 p.m. at a private waterfront estate on Dune Road in Quogue. The benefit includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Cocktail Party tickets are $175. VIP Tickets are $300 and include dinner after the cocktail party. The event benefits the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. www.whbpac.org

August 9, 2014 (Saturday)

EAST HAMPTON LIBRARY - “Authors Night” takes place on August 9. A book signing and cocktail reception will be held from 5 - 7:30 p.m. at the Gardiner Farm, 36 James Lane, East Hampton Village, NY 11937. Tickets for the signing and reception are $100.  At 8 p.m., dinner parties with guest authors will be held at private homes throughout the area. EVELYN ALEXANDER WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTER - "Get Wild" art auction and cocktail party will take place on August 9 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the home of artists April Gornik and Eric Fischl in North Haven, NY. The event features cocktails, light fare and a live auction which can be previewed by clicking here. Proceeds benefit the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center, which is based in Hampton Bays, NY. www.wildliferescuecenter.org.

August 15 & 16, 2014 (Friday & Saturday)

VARIOUS CHARITIES - “Artists & Writers Celebrity Softball Game” takes place on August 16. Batting Practice takes place at noon with the game beginning at 2 p.m. A Pre-game party and auction will be held on August 15 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. at LTV Studio in Wainscott. The suggested donation for admission to the game is $10. The Pre-game party costs $40 in advance/ $50 at the door. Children under 12 are free. The event benefits the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center, East End Hospice, Phoenix House Adolescent Center, and The Retreat. HAMPTON THEATRE COMPANY - "30th Anniversary Benefit" performance and party takes place on August 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Quogue Field Club in Quogue, NY. EAST END HOSPICE - "Box Art Auction Preview Reception" takes place on Wednesday, August 27, from 5 - 7 p.m. at St. Luke's Hoie Hall in East Hampton, NY. Preview viewings takes place at St. Luke's on August 27 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Box Art Auction takes place on September 6 at the Ross School (see below for details).
