EAST END, NY-

The "big" weekend may have passed but art continues to explode on the East End. New art openings are being unveiled across the East End and live music abounds. Here's this week's list of where to find art happenings in The Hamptons, Riverhead and The North Fork.

EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

ASHAWAGH HALL - “East End Photographers Group Spring Exhibition” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 8th. GUILD HALL - “Lecture with Artist Andrea Cote: Temporary Art Projects” takes place on Saturday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Cote will discuss her process regarding her projects in the public realm including Downtown Riverhead’s “Eyes on Main Street.” The lecture is free with museum admission. JOHN DREW THEATER @ GUILD HALL – “RED” by John Logan continues through June 8 on Wednesdays through Sundays at 8 p.m. The play is $35 general admission, $33 for members, and $10 for students. HARPER’S BOOKS - “Sadie Laska and Jesse Littlefield” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Laska and Littlefield will present mixed-media abstract works. The exhibition was organized by Eddie Martinez. Harper’s Books is located at 87 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937. www.harpersbooks.com.

LONGHOUSE RESERVE - “NAWA: Axis for Peace Project” takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Artist Mariyo Yagi along with over 100 participants will create a 30 foot high sculpture out of large rope strands. THE DRAWING ROOM - “Jean Pagliuso: Fragile Remains II” and “Toni Ross: Contained. Unbound” have Opening Receptions on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.  Both shows remain on view through June 23. The Drawing Room is located at 66H Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937. www.drawingroom-gallery.com.

THE FIREPLACE PROJECT - “Picture of Lola” by Lola Montes Schnabel and Julian Schnabel has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 23. The exhibition will include self portraits by Lola Montes Schnabel and portraits of Lola by Julian Schnabel. This is the first time the artists have exhibited together. GREENPORT   

SOUTH STREET GALLERY - “Tides” by Barbara Bilotta has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 23. Bilotta creates abstractions based on natural forms through the use of resin and acrylic. ROSALIE DIMON GALLERY - “Anahi DeCanio and Michael Maas” have an Artists’ Reception on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through July 30. The Rosalie Dimon Gallery is located at the Jamesport Manor Inn, 370 Manor Lane, Jamesport, NY 11947. www.eastendarts.org.

RIVERHEAD

ART SITES GALLERY- “<Forest Mirror><Ink Page>” by Ellen Wiener and LB Thompson has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a reading at 6 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through July 6. Visual Artist Wiener and Poet Thompson have collaborated in an interactive installation. Wiener will exhibit a large pen and ink mural on wood panels with hidden compartments containing poetry by Thompson. In a separate room of the gallery, poems are displayed on shelves around another of Wiener’s works. Collaborative books by the artist and poet will be on display and signed copies will be for sale. SAG HARBOR

CANIO’S BOOKS - “Reading by Ian Frazier” takes place on Saturday at 5 p.m. Frazier will read from Travels in Siberia as well as an essay on horseshoe crabs previously run in the New Yorker. Canio’s Books are located at 290 Upper Main Street, Sag Harbor, NY 11963. www.caniosbooks.com.

DODDS & EDER HOME - “Solo Show by Rossa Cole” has an Artist Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 23. RICHARD J. DEMATO FINE ART - “Transcendental Feminine Fantasy” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 27. PETER MARCELLE PROJECT - “ARCADIA: Recent Photographs by Joe Pintauro” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 15. The photographs on view are inspired by themes present in Paradise Lost as well as the rapidly changing natural and architectural scenery of Long Island’s East End. ROGERS MEMORIAL LIBRARY – “Adult Brown Bag Lunch & Book Chat: Gabrielle Selz: Unstill Life: A Daughter’s Memoir of Art and Love in the Age of Distraction” takes place on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. Reservations are appreciated. SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER - “The Parhelion Trio” will perform on Saturday at 7 p.m. The trio includes Sarah Carrier on flute, Ashleé Miller on clarinet, and Andrea Christie on piano. The trio will perform original compositions and commissions that embrace all musical genres. Tickets are $20 general admission, $10 for students under 21. Benefitting the SOUTHAMPTON HISTORICAL MUSEUM - “5th Annual Tour of Southampton Homes, an Insider’s View” takes place on Saturday at 1 p.m. The tour includes a Champagne Reception beginning at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $95 and can be picked up the week of the tour at the Rogers Mansion or on the day of the tour at the Thomas Halsey Homestead. WATERMILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Jazz en Plein Air: Eliot Zigmund” takes place on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The performance features jazz drummer Eliot Zigmund, Ed MacEachen on guitar, and Mike Eckroth on the organ. WATERMILL CENTER - “PLATFORM 2012: JUDSON NOW” by Judy Hussie-Taylor will take place on Saturday at 4 p.m. Hussie-Taylor will discuss the Judson Church visual and performing art movement of 1960. Robert Wilson, the founder and artistic director of the Watermill Center, has been influenced by the artists of this movement. WATER MILL MUSEUM - “Wall Candy” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 16. The annual member’s show includes the work of over 100 artists showing drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography. The reception also features a stone-grinding demo of the museum’s water-powered grist mill. The museum is located at 41 Old Mill Road  Water Mill, NY 11976. www.watermillmuseum.org.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH

Benefiting Maureen's Haven, The Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones  perform on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Our Lady's Hall of the Immaculate Conception RC Church. The a cappella music group from Harvard University will perform contemporary pop hits as well as jazz, country, and indie/rock alternative songs. Our Lady's Hall is located at Main Street & Franklin Ave, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978.
