EAST END, NY-

It's here...the first of the big three weekends of the Summer Season. Get your pencils out and get ready to write out a plan. There's lots of art and events to put in the schedule for the long (and hopefully sunny) weekend.

Here's where to find exhibition openings, art events and culture on the East End this weekend:

EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

ERIC FIRESTONE GALLERY - “Dazed & Confused” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 15. The group exhibition features Grant Barnhardt, Bhakti Baxter, Kelsey Brookes, James Clar, Evie Falci, Ted Gahl, Field Kallop, Andrew Kuo, Pryce Lee, Brian Porray, Jaime Scholnick, Jen Stark, and Ryan Wallace. GUILD HALL - “Reading and Book Signing with Bob Colacello” takes place on Sunday at 5 p.m. Bob Colacello will be reading from his book Holy Terror: Andy Warhol Close Up. Admission is free.

JOHN DREW THEATER @ GUILD HALL - “RED” by John Logan opened on May 21 and will run through June 8 on Wednesdays through Sundays at 8 p.m. The play is $35 general admission, $33 for members, and $10 for students.

LAWRENCE FINE ART - “LINESCAPES”, a solo show by abstract artist Carol Sears, has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sears is based in Los Angeles. Lawrence Fine Art is located at 37 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937.  www.lawrence-fine-arts.com.

POLLOCK-KRASNER HOUSE AND STUDY CENTER- “Color and Time: Paintings by Roy Newell, 1956-2000” has a reception and panel discussion on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through July 26. The show presents 28 of Newell’s abstract oil paintings. The panel features exhibition guest curator Dr. Robert E. Harrist, artist Richard Dupont, and art historian Kent Mintum.

VERED GALLERY - “Lili Almog: Down to Earth” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 9 to 11 p.m. The show presents a new series of photograpy featuring landscapes of satellite images embellished by drawing by Almog. GREENPORT   

SOUTH STREET GALLERY - “North Fork Modernism: Paintings by Colin Goldberg” has a Closing Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through May 26. Goldberg’s works integrate traditional drawing and painting with computer graphics and large-format digital printing. JEDEDIAH HAWKINS INN BARN GALLERY - “Nature’s Call: A Return to Silence” by Peter Azrak has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 29. MONTAUK

THE MONTAUK BEACH HOUSE - 'Theo Blue: Flotsamblage", assemblages made from materials collected from the coast of Montauk by Theo Blue (aka artist Scott Bluedorn), has an Opening Reception on Friday (May 23) from 5 to 9 p.m. Features DJ sets by NEGK and Blind Prophet and special guests. REMSENBURG

EAST END ARTS at REMSENBURG ACADEMY - “Here Comes the Sun” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition runs through June 1 and is the Opening Exhibition for the summer-long art venue. The themed show celebrates summer on the East End. Exhibiting artists include Lucille Berril, Linda Capello, Michael McLaughlin, Jonathan Pearlman, and Leo Revi. RIVERHEAD

EAST END ARTS - “18th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival” takes place on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The festival includes street painting, an artisan and craft fair, live music, theatre, drumming and dance, face painting, food trucks, and more. SAG HARBOR

"CONVICTION" - The World Premiere opens on Tuesday, May 27, and continues through June 15. A modern family drama that poises the question: When the seeds of mistrust are planted, can life continue to be lived with conviction amid uncertainty? Directed by Scott Schwartz, Bay Street Theatre's new artistic director. Tickets are $53.75 - $75. SOUTHAMPTON

SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER - “Southampton Artists Association’s Memorial Day Show” has an Opening Reception on Sunday from 4 to 6 pm. The exhibition remains on view through June 1. The show features paintings, sculpture, photography, and drawings from 50 local artist. There will be a book signing of Sisu by author Aura Levitas during the reception. Admission is free. TRIPOLI GALLERY OF CONTEMPORARY ART - “Gordon Stevenson: I Remember It Differently” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 16. WATER MILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Sounds of Summer: The HooDoo Loungers” takes place on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The concert kicks off the Sounds of Summer live music series. Free with museum admission. The Parrish Art Museum is located at 279 Montauk Hwy, Water Mill, NY 11976. www.parrishart.org.

WATER MILL MUSEUM - “Water Mill Postal Service” opens on May 22 and launches the season for the historical museum. The exhibition presents photojournalism, text and artifacts revealing the history of Water Mill's Postal Service and its people.

“WALL CANDY” – The 22nd Annual Museum Members Art Show and Sale opens on May 22 and continues through June 16. An Opening Reception will be held next Saturday, May 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.
