It's a quiet one on the East End as people hunker down with holiday plans and the winter slowdown in the arts begins to take hold. Guild Hall museum is open from Friday to Sunday only through June. The Parrish Art Museum is open daily (except for Tuesdays) year-round. On Friday, the Parrish holds a Mid-Winter Dance Party and provides the sole public art event on the East End for this weekend.

WATER MILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - Mid-Winter Dance Party "Into the Light" will be held on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. Tropical theme including limbo contest, hula hooping, tropical videos and music by DJ Mister Lama. Tropical drinks available for purchase. Admission is $10 or free for museum members. The Parrish Art Museum is located at 279 Montauk Hwy., Water Mill, NY 11976. www.parrishart.org.

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - GUIDED TOUR of the Permanent Collection will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. Guided tours by docents are held on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays at 2 p.m.  The Parrish Art Museum is located at 279 Montauk Hwy., Water Mill, NY 11976. www.parrishart.org.

EAST HAMPTON

JOHN DREW THEATER - "10th Annual Free Winter Film Series" begins on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 4:30 p.m. with a screening of A Bottle in the Gaza Sea. Based on an award-winning novel by Valérie Zenatti. (2011. French, Arabic and Hebrew with English Subtitles.)
