Columbus Day Weekend arrives bringing with it the return of the Hamptons International Film Festival, the presentation of the first Watermill Center Film Series, new art openings, and special cultural events. Details about HIFF is located below this week's Art Round Up. What follows is this week's listing of art and culture to help you map your weekend.

AMAGANSETT

ILLE ARTS GALLERY - “Screening of Con El Mismo Amortakes place on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. The film is by Jan Henle and Vivien Bittencourt. The gallery is located at 216a Main Street, Amagansett, NY 11930. www.illearts.com.

EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS

ASHAWAGH HALL - "Body of Work X" will be exhibited from Oct 12 to 14 at Ashawagh Hall. An Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, Oct 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will be open on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday and Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Rd, Springs, NY 11937. www.ashawagh-hall.org.

GLENN HOROWITZ BOOKSELLER - “Adam Stennett: Camp out or Get Out” begins on Friday at noon and runs through noon on Sunday. Stennett will be living and working in his Artist Survival Shack, set up in the gallery, over Columbus Day Weekend. The gallery will remain open around the clock for this event. There will be talks, demonstrations and special events held throughout the weekend. Guests are invited to bring a sleeping bag and camp out overnight at the gallery. LAWRENCE FINE ART - "Left Bank Brooklyn" will hold an Artists Reception on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibition features abstract expressionism paintings by Karl Klingbiel and Robert Szot. DODDS & EDER - “Kingdom Animalia” has a Curator's Talk and Exhibition Tour in the Twilight Lounge on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. led by curator Kathy Zeigler. Exhibition Tour begins at 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Nov. 10. GRENNING GALLERY at WATCHCASE - “Local Landsapes” has a special one day exhibition on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The exhibition also includes a preview of Watchcase’s model residence and an oil painting demonstration by featured artist Leo Mancini-Hresko. MONIKA OLKO GALLERY - “Christine Matthai, Alex Kveton, and Philippe Heurtaux” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 31. Matthai will exhibit abstract photography, Kveton will show contemporary metal sculptures, and Heurtaux will show modern abstract paintings. SOUTHAMPTON

ROGERS MEMORIAL LIBRARY’S Madelle Hegeler Semerjian Gallery – “Legacy” by Louis Puglisi has an Opening Reception on Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The artist will be showing acrylic paintings. The gallery is located on the lower level of the library at 91 Coopers Farm Rd, Southampton, NY 11968.

SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER - “Material Matters II” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Nov. 9. The theme of the exhibition is how material effects each artist’s aesthetic. It is curated by Arlene Bujese.

Exhibiting artists are Abby Abrams, Jeff Dell, Patricia Feiwel, Carol Hunt, Tracy Jamar, James Kennedy, Dennis Leri, Christa Maiwald, Gabriele Raacke, Bob Skinner, and Nicolas Tarr. WATERMILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Salon Series: Performance by Irina Muresanu” takes place on Friday at 6 p.m. as a part of the museum’s new classical music series. The violinist’s program will include music from Europe, the Middle and Far East, North and South America, and will include works from both classical and contemporary composers. HAMPTONS

THE HAMPTONS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL opens today and continues through Monday. Screenings and events take place in Southampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor and Montauk.

Tickets range from $15 to $30 for adult tickets for films. Tickets for regular screenings for seniors (over 65 years) are $13 and children (12 and under) are $8 for regular screenings. Higher prices apply for Spotlight Films, Centerpiece Films and Special Events.
