EAST END, NY-

Exhibitions abound with new openings this weekend in the Hamptons. A new exhibition of sea-inspired art opens in Greenport in conjunction with the 24th Annual Greenport Maritime Festival. An exhibition of women portraying women in paint and a survey show of sculpture by Dennis Leri both have the making of exhibitions not to be missed. A screening of rock legends captured on film and a performance developed at Watermill Center and co-presented at Guild Hall are a few additional options for Hamptons culture. The full line-up of art-filled possibilities follows:

AMAGANSETT 

ILLE ARTS GALLERY - “Figure and Ground” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The mixed media show was curated by Vivien Bittencourt and Vincent Katz. Participating artists include Vivien Bittencourt, Rudy Burckhardt, Juan Gomez, Jan Henle, and Alex Katz. The gallery is located at 216a Main Street, Amagansett, NY 11930. www.illearts.com.

BRIDGEHAMPTON

PETER MARCELLE GALLERY - “FOUR” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 6. The show features the work of contemporary abstract painters Claudia Aronow, Roisin Bateman, Rhia Hurt, and Kryn Olson. PIERRE’S RESTAURANT - “Out East” by Suzanne Pemberton has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. The paintings remain on view through Oct. 2. Pierre’s Restaurant is located at 2468 Main Street, Bridgehampton, NY 11932. www.pierresbridgehampton.com.

EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

ASHAWAGH HALL - “Dennis Leri: Convergence” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be and Advance View with Exhibit Curator Esperanza LeÓn on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be and Artist on Artist Q&A on Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. with Eric Ernst. LAWRENCE FINE ART - “Steve Joester: Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll” has a Closing Reception on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. The gallery is located at 37 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937. www.lawrence-fine-arts.com.

WATERMILL CENTER and GUILD HALL - CTown’s “THE MOMENTUM” will be performed at Guild Hall on Saturday at 8 p.m. The work was first developed while CTown was in residence at the Watermill Center in 2010. Tickets are $20, $10 for students. Guild Hall is located at 158 Main Street  East Hampton, NY 11937. www.guildhall.org.

GREENPORT   

SIRENS’ SONG GALLERY - “Flights of Fancy: Part 2” has an Opening Reception on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. The exhibition features the work of local artists inspired by the sea. Exhibiting artists include Gail Horton, Hazel Kahan, Cindy Pease Roe, Isabel Osinski, Felicitas Wetter, Anneli Arms, Sherry Schreiber, and Caroline Waloski. The exhibition is being presented as part of the 24th Annual Greenport Maritime Festival. A portion of art sales will be donated to the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation. RIVERHEAD

LYCEUM GALLERY - “Paul Farinacci: Back to School and Other Tales of Woe” has an Artist Reception this evening from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 26. The gallery is located at the Suffolk County Community College, Eastern Campus, 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, Riverhead, NY 11901.

SAG HARBOR

BAY STREET THEATRE - “Legends of Rock Volume 5” takes place on Friday at 8 p.m. as part of the “Legends Series.” Film maker and archivist Joe Lauro will host the show, which features rare footage of legendary american musicians. The “Legends Series” brings video clips of performances from the Historic Films Archive to the big screen. Tickets are $15. RICHARD J. DEMATO FINE ART - “Women Painting Women” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 17.  The show includes the work of 30 women chosen from entries of 400 artists. WATERMILL

CELADON GALLERY - “Wood Fired Collaborative Exhibit” opens on Friday and has a Brunch Reception on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 14. On view are wood fired ceramics of Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons and Adelphi University. Participating artists include Eve Behar, C.C. Bookout, Isabel Foulkes, Steve Jones, Anti Lio Puneeta Mittal, Barbara Rocca, and Bill Shillalies. The gallery is located 41 Old Mill Road, Water Mill, NY 11976. www.hamptonsclayart.org.
