Have walls that need art? Staying a short time in your new home so art seems out of the question? Lynda Sylvester may have the answers.
Sylvester recently took her interest in photography, art and printing to create “Art on the Go.” Clever in title and execution, Sylvester is presenting prints on board in a grab-able form by tucking them into a pizza box. The prints by Sylvester are designed to be hung with large binder clips or push pins so they’re perfect for transient homes or permanent ones for owners who want some edge at a reasonable price.

“Art on the Go” is sold at Sylvester & Co., one of two stores in the Hamptons owned by Sylvester. Both have been selling fine art, photography or prints for the last few years. The addition of Sylvester’s own art is something new.
“I’ve been noticing a newer type of customer,” Sylvester said, “a younger market that has weekend or summer houses or maybe even a beach condo or trailer. They source from thrift and vintage stores and want something for the walls that is not expensive but has some quality.”

Each print is 15 ½ inches square and are rendered in black and white, giving a classic yet subtle look. Some images are created from photographs of street art, others conjure conceptual photography and other prints seem to fall as narrative art. Taken together, the prints provide a diverse range of visual options and create an instant collection.
“I was trained as an artist,” Sylvester said, “and I appreciate the whole spectrum of art, from the large master works of Rauschenberg, who was my onetime neighbor, to my more recent fascination with trending art like graffiti. I like the impermanence of it—that it can disappear and not be so precious.”

Sylvester’s prints are boxed for take-out price of a few hundred dollars. Other prints are available as stand-alone pieces, available outside of the box.
