HAMPTONS & NORTH FORK-

The Hamptons art scene continues to go full throttle with new exhibitions opening on the South and North Forks. Shelter Island also springs to life with a self-guided (and free) artist studio tour. Noteworthy openings this weekend include sprawling group shows at Eric Firestone Gallery and Tripoli Gallery of Contemporary Art. The upcoming week also brings concerts, a lecture, a film screening on Contemporary art in China, and an evening with Laurie Anderson.

AMAGANSETT 

NEOTERIC FINE ART - "Summer Salon" closes on Wednesday (Aug. 21) with an auction. Artists and designers on view include Ethan Abramson, Scott Bluedorn, Kristie Hirten, Mark Wilson, Claudia Spinelli, Matthew Satz, Bill Durham, Sophia Collier, Peter Dayton, Will Ryan, Kenneth Murphy, Marlene Maderer, Tim Lee, Julian Goldstone, David Elze, Tyler Tikannen, Wintertime Design, and Long Island Wood. NOVA’S ARK PROJECT - “Open House” takes place on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. Nova’s Ark Project is located at 30-60 Millstone Road, Bridgehampton, NY 11932. www.novasarkproject.com.

PETER MARCELLE GALLERY - “Lee Essex Doyle” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Aug. 25. Doyle paints interiors and landscapes often influenced by her travels through India and Africa. EAST HAMPTON / SPRINGS 

ASHAWAGH HALL - “Ashawagh Honors” takes place on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. The benefit honors artists Eleanor “Chip” Leaver and Ralph Carpentier. The event includes a Black & White Gala Reception. Admission is $15 per person or $25 per couple donation at the door.

“Curator’s Tour” of the “46th Annual Artists of the Springs Invitational” exhibition takes place on Saturday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The tour will be guided by Jennifer Cross, 2013 Guest Curator. The exhibition remains on view through Aug. 18.

EAST HAMPTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY at CLINTON ACADEMY MUSEUM - “Jazz Age East Hampton (1919 - 1933): Clothes, Clubs & Contraband” has a Curator Tour on Saturday at 10 a.m. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 13. ERIC FIRESTONE GALLERY - "Seventh-Inning Stretch" has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Sep. 9. The theme of the show is baseball. The gallery is located at 4 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937. www.ericfirestonegallery.com

GUILD HALL - “An Evening with Laurie Anderson” takes place on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $60/$58 for members Orchestra, $40/$38 Balcony, and $100/$95 prime Orchestra and VIP Reception. The event will take place in Guild Hall’s John Drew Theater in the Dina Merrill Pavilion.

Screening of “Chinese Hand Laundry and Field of Waste” followed by Q & A with Director Lana Jokel takes place on Wednesday (Aug. 21) at 8 p.m. The film features artists Huang Yong and Chen Zhen working on an installation at the New Museum. Admission is free. The screening will take place in Guild Hall’s John Drew Theater.

POLLOCK-KRASNER HOUSE AND STUDY CENTER at THE FIREPLACE PROJECT - “Lichtenstein Lectures: Harold Rosenberg and the Twilight of the Intellectuals” takes place on Sunday at 5 p.m. The lecture will be given by Debra Bricker Balken, an independent writer and curator. EAST END ARTS at the ROSALIE DIMON GALLERY - “Eileen Dawn Skretch & Rosamaria Eisler” has an Artists’ Reception on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 30. Skretch, a Southampton landscape painter, begins her process in plein air and paints on wood surfaces. Eisler is a Ridge printmaker, painter, and educator. CANIO’S BOOKS - “Britton” has an Opening Reception on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Sept. 12. TRIPOLI GALLERY OF CONTEMPORARY ART - “Water” opens today and has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Sept. 9.

Participating artists include Ross Bleckner, Stefan Bondell, William Merritt Chase, Willem de Kooning, James de Pasquale, Marsden Hartley, Mary Heilmann, Yung Jake, Roy Lichtenstein, Maya Lin, Thomas Moran, Matisse Patterson, Fairfield Porter, Clifford Ross, Lola Montes Schnabel, Nathalie Shepherd, Keith Sonnier, Saul Steinberg, Billy Sullivan, and Darius Yektai.

WAINSCOTT

HAMPTONS HOME & PATIO POP-UP GALLERY - “Lynn Matsuoka” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Aug. 26. Matsuoka is a reportage artist and will be showing polo and equestrian art along with other works. WATER MILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Southampton Arts Festival: All About Bach” takes place on Friday at 6 p.m. The international classical music celebration will present it’s opening program with performances by violinists Dmitri Berlinsky and Mikhail Bezverkhny. WATER MILL MUSEUM - "Quilts! Quilts! Quilts!" opens on Friday. The exhibition remains on view through Sept. 15. Over 200 new and antique quilts will be on view and for sale. The museum is located at 41 Old Mill Road  Water Mill, NY 11976. www.watermillmuseum.org

WATER MILL SQUARE GALLERY - "The Art Sprinter" has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition features the work of the finalists of the international art competition, The Art Sprinter. The three best artists of the show will be rewarded at the reception. Participating artists include Hilary Schmidt, Suzanne Scott, Natan Pernick, Karen KK Clardy , Ian Healy, Elyse Hradecky, Joseph Cavalieri, Mark Paulda, Peter Walker, Chris Riggs For Mayor, Cara De Angelis, and Sarah Hahn.
