Tedium and irritation can infuse a visit to any art fair, induced not only by row after row of white-walled, halogen-flooded booths installed with artwork of inconsistent quality, but the often repetitious nature of works on view. This year's edition of artMRKT Hamptons is again small enough that it does not tire the viewer out and it offers several highlights scattered throughout the show, made primarily by emerging and mid-career artists.

These attractions come in the form of innovative, special artwork and cohesive, thoughtful installations of multiple artists, both sufficient to maintain one's interest during an entire visit. The following are some of my choices, several of them rooted to the East End (confirming that we do not need to go very far to see great art year round!).
