DISPATCH - JULY 8, 2013 (7:42 a.m.)
EAST HAMPTON, NY-
This year's line up of authors was just released for the 9th annual East Hampton Library's Authors Night to be held on Aug. 10, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. in East Hampton Village. The popular event provides the chance for booklovers to mingle with authors of various ilk. These include celebrity authors, literary giants, writers from the Hamptons, first-time authors with recently-released books and authors who are seasoned pros. Afterwards, those with Dinner Tickets retire to a private home to have a group dinner honoring an author from the event.

Authors expected to be on hand and signing books for this year's event are A.M. Homes, Susan Isaacs, record producer Clive Davis, artist Eric Fischl, “Real Housewife” Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Vanity fair contributing editor and journalist Michael Shnayerson and sex therapist expert Dr. Ruth Westheimer.
Also appearing this year are authors Dava Sobel, Katie Beers, Jay McInerney, Margaret I. Cuomo, MD, Sylvia Day, Kathy Freston, Charles Graeber, Katherine Holabird, Kitty Kelley, Lily Koppel, Padma Lakshmi, Robert Lipsyte, Mark Mazzetti, Marisha Pessl, Kitty Pilgrim, Marcus Samuelsson, Lynn Sherr and Jessica Soffer.

Author's Night begins at 5 p.m. with the Authors Book Signing Cocktail Reception under the tent. Benefit attendees can indulge in hors d’oeuvres and wine (featuring Swedish delicacies by Tommy Myllymäki, 2011 Bocuse d’Or Silver Medalist) while meeting and mingling with the writers. Stacks of books are available for sale with their author at the ready--pen in hand--to autograph and personally inscribe.
At 8 pm, directly following the Authors Reception, another type of party gets started. Select guests gather at a private home to attend dinner in honor of one of the guest authors.
Nearly 35 authors will be celebrated at the private dinner events. They include Neil Barofsky (BAILOUT: An Inside Account of How Washington Abandoned Main Street While Rescuing Wall Street), Robert A. Caro (THE PASSAGE OF POWER: The Years of Lyndon Johnson), Sylvia Day (Entwined With You), Nelson Demille (The Panther), Padma Lakshmi (TANGY TART HOT AND SWEET: A World of Recipes for Every Day), Gwyneth Paltrow with Julia Turshen (IT’S ALL GOOD: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great) and others.

This year's Founding Co-Chairs Alec Baldwin and Barbara Goldsmith will be joined by Honorary Co-Chairs Robert A. Caro, Nelson DeMille, A.M. Homes, Robert K. Massie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Joseph E. Stiglitz.
Over 100 authors are expected to attend the event. Authors Night returns to Gardiner Farm at 36 James Lane in East Hampton Village, NY. It will not be held on the grounds of the East Hampton Library as in years past.

Authors continue to be added as the event sweeps closer. Recent confirmations include Patricia Volk, David Gilbert, Lea Carpenter, Joanna Philbin, Peter Gethers, Wednesday Martin, Ph. D., Geoff Gehman, Leeann Lavin, Kathryn Livingston, Harrice Miller, Ann Liguori, Frank Savage, Sam Lipsyte and Caroline Rob Zaleski. A website set up for the event provides current details.
Proceeds from Author's Night benefits The East Hampton Library, a private, not-for-profit organization providing library services to the East Hampton community. Author's Night typically draws around thousand of attendees to what is considered a favorite summertime event.

Tickets are $100 for book signing reception only. Dinner tickets begin at $250 and include entry to the book signing reception.
Authors Night began in 2005 with a handful of dinners and a few hundred attendees. The event typically now features over 160 authors and draws over 1,000 people to the literary benefit. It is the only author event of its kind in the Hamptons.
