Art is popping on the East End this weekend. New exhibitions, a musical art benefit, artist workshops and a discussion on the intersection of art and architecture are a small part of what's happening in the Hamptons art scene.
AMAGANSETT
ILLE ARTS GALLERY - “Four Women” has an Opening Reception tonight (Friday) from 6 to 8 p.m. Participating artists include Monica Banks, Suzanne Goldenberg, Janet Nolan and Nicole Parcher. PETER MARCELLE GALLERY - “Gavin Zeigler: A Thirty Year Retrospective of Painting and Sculpture, 1983 - 2013” opens Saturday. The Opening Reception will be held next Saturday (June 15) from 6 to 8 p.m. Zeigler creates mixed media paintings using everyday objects with a focus on surface, pattern, and color. ASHAWAGH HALL - “The East End Photographers Group 25th Anniversary Exhibition” has a Closing Reception on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The show will feature both traditional and digital photography. Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Rd, Springs, NY 11937.

ILLE ARTS - “Phillip Glass and Jon Gibson Benefit Concert” takes place on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The benefit is in support of Ille Art’s emerging artists and community programs. A silent auction will be held at 6 p.m. along with a cocktail reception. The auction will include works by Mary Heilmann, Don Christensen, Sydney Albertini, EL Brown and others. The musical performance by musician/composer Phillip Glass and saxophonist Jon Gibson will take place at 7 p.m.The Benefit Concert is located at 9 Goodfriend Drive, East Hampton, NY 11937. LAWRENCE FINE ART - “The Horizontalists” - Gallery Talk by exhibiting artist Etsuko Ichikawa takes place on Saturday at 2 p.m. The group show opened on June 6 and continues through June 24. The Horizontalists are a group of painters who work while positioned above their canvases in the tradition of action painting. Exhibiting artists are Etsuko Ichikawa, Daniel O'Keefe, Emanuel Buckvar, Larry Wolhandler, John Perrault and David Adams.
“Arthur Pinajian: Lost Master” has been extended through June 24 due to popular demand. The solo exhibition will now occupy the second floor gallery.

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Architectural Sessions at the Parrish: Drawing Art into Architecture” takes place today (Friday) at 6 p.m. Sculptor Alice Aycock and architects Roberto Behar and Maziar Behrooz will discuss the intersection where art and architecture meet. WATERMILL CENTER - “Open Rehearsal of Thumbprint” takes place on Sunday at 6 p.m. Playwright Susan Yankowitz and composer Kamala Sankaram will present the open rehearsal of the work, which is inspired by the story of Mukhtar Mai.
“If You Stand Long Enough You Become A Place” will be presented Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Photographer John Atwood will exhibit a video presentation of himself re-creating compositions of photographs before he sees the original developed film.
