DISPATCH-MAY 6, 2013 (8:30 p.m.)

SOUTHAMPTON, NY-

The Southampton Historical Museums and Research Center is opening up the concept of a Hamptons insider. On Saturday, a handful of Southampton Village homes will open their doors to benefit the historical museum. Those same tour goers will receive a first look at three art exhibitions to be presented for the summer by the museum.

The Fourth Annual Tour of Southampton Homes: An Insider's View will be held on Saturday, May 11, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The self-guided tour presents five private homes in Southampton Village as a collection of diverse architectural styles. Afterwards, tour goers gather for a Champagne Reception at the Rogers Mansion at the museum. The house tour benefits the museum's education programs. Tickets are $75 in advance or $90 on the day of the tour.

The three art exhibitions open to the public on May 14 and remain on view through Aug 3, 2013.

"Extraordinarily Ordinary!" presents photographs by Mallory Samson of objects from the museum's collection. "Southampton Landscapes" features paintings by Patricia Garrity that reveal the interaction of light and form. "Historic Landmarks of Southampton" presents watercolor paintings by Kevin O’Malley of historic structures within Southampton Town.

The Tour of Southampton Homes: an Insider's View includes a quintessential Queen Anne and a turn of the century home with a turreted tower, sprawling porch and widow's walk. Participants can also visit a farmhouse built before 1858, a European-style home and a renovated whaling captain's retreat.

The 1708 House will provide refreshments and provide tours from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Saint Andrew's Dune Church will be open for the fundraising event. So will the Halsey House.
