The Hamptons spring to life this weekend with new art exhibitions, a major survey show of drawings by Alice Aycock, the opening of LongHouse Reserve and a new interactive environmental installation at SoFo. Taken together, the indicators point to the beginning of the 2013 art season!

Here's where to find your part to play in the Hamptons art scene.

BRIDGEHAMPTON

SoFo (The South Fork Natural History Museum and Nature Center) - "The Expansive Field: - The Environmental Art of Christine Sciulli" opens on Saturday during the museum's Earth Day Celebration. "The Expansive Field" is a series of immersive projection installations located inside the museum and on the outside grounds. It will be on view from noon to 9 p.m.

The centerpiece of the piece is an indoor installation featuring geometric light projections that interact with organic material in an immersive experience, according to the museum. The piece is dependent on near-to-total darkness for participants to fully engage with the artwork.

PETER MARCELLE GALLERY - “Karyn Mannix: Solo Show” has an opening reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition includes large-scale works, photography and sculpture. The opening reception features an audience interactive piece. The show continues through April 30. CUTCHOGUE

OLD TOWN ARTS & CRAFTS GUILD - “Spring Awakenings Juried Art Competition & Show” has an opening reception tonight (Friday) from  5 to 7 p.m. The juried art show includes fine art, photography and mixed media. It was juried by artist Hector deCordova. The show can be viewed this weekend (April 20 and 21) and next weekend (April 27, and 28) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Guild is located at 28265 Main Road, Cutchogue, NY 11935. www.oldtownguild.com

EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS

ASHAWAGH HALL - “ART GROOVE” has an opening reception on Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. The show features the work of 13 artists. The opening reception includes a live musical performance by Out East and a dance mix by DJ D-Funk. The weekend show is on view on Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Rd, Springs, NY 11937. www.ashawagh-hall.org

LONGHOUSE RESERVE - "Rites of Spring" Season Opening plus the exhibitions “Roots of Modern” and “Black & White: Jack Youngerman” opens on Saturday. Rites of Spring takes place on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. An exhibition reception immediately follows from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission to the Opening of LongHouse is $10 or free for members. MONTAUK

MONTAUK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE - Fundraiser:  “Concert for the Concerts” takes place on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Zum Schneider restaurant, 4 South Elmwood Ave, Montauk, NY 11954. Admission is $10 and kids are free. The concert is a fundraiser for the chamber’s Summer Concert Series. Participating musicians include The Blue Collar Band, The Lone Sharks, 3 B’s, Miss Melody, and Ray Red. RIVERHEAD

LYCEUM GALLERY - “The Eastern Campus Student Fine Arts Exhibit” has an opening reception on Thursday (Apr 25) from 4 to 6 p.m. The show remains on view through May 8. The gallery is located at the Suffolk County Community College, Eastern Campus, 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, Riverhead, NY 11901.

SAG HARBOR

GRENNING GALLERY – “The Glory of Spring” has an opening reception on  Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Exhibiting artists include Karl Dempwolf, Thomas Cardone, and Geoff Kuzara. LEAR GALLERY - “Sarah Jaffe Turnbull” has an opening reception on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. The solo show presents new fine art ceramics by Turnbull. It is also the inaugural exhibition of the Lear Gallery, launched by blues and roots musician Jake Lear. The exhibition remains on view through May 27. WATERMILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM -"Alice Aycock Drawings: Some Stories are Worth Repeating" has a museum members opening on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The exhibition opens to the public on Sunday with a Curator's Talk held at 11:15 a.m. The talk is sold out but a waiting list will begin at 11 a.m. The exhibition was curated by Parrish Art Museum Adjunct Curator Jonathan Fineberg.

Alice Aycock Drawings: Some Stories are Worth Repeating" is being presented in two venues: The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill and the Grey Art Gallery, the fine art museum at NYU. The Grey Art Gallery exhibition opens on April 23. Both shows remain on view through July 13.

WATERMILL CENTER - “Dictaphone Group (Lebanon): Nothing to Declare” takes place tonight at 8 p.m. The artists-in-residence Dictaphone Group will perform a performance lecture dealing with the borders between Lebanon and neighboring Arab nations. UPCOMING:

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - Jack Youngerman - The Artist's View - Youngerman will give an informal gallery talk on Friday, April 26, at 6 p.m. for the museum's series The Artist's View. The talk will take place in the gallery where Youngerman's wood relief Conflux II is installed. The artwork is a recent gift by the artist to the Parrish. Tickets are $10 or free for Members, students and children. Space is limited and reservations are essential.
