Two exhibitions hold rescheduled events this weekend that were delayed by recent snow storm. Weekend art happenings include a love-themed show at Ashawagh Hall with performances and a poetry event. Opening receptions also take place for a fine art photography show and a new exhibition at the Southampton Historical Museum.
BRIDGEHAMPTON
BONAC TONIC at KATHRYN MARKEL FINE ARTS - “VIRGIL IS STILL THE FROGBOY” has an opening reception on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Tonic Artspace occupying Kathryn Markel Fine Arts. The exhibition remains on view through Feb 28. Exhibiting new artworks are Carly Haffner, Christine Lidrbauch, Grant Haffner, Scott Bluedorn and Scott Gibbons. KARYN MANNIX CONTEMPORARY at ASHAWAGH HALL - “Love & Passion: The Naughty Show” has an opening wine reception with live performances on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Alfredo Merat will perform at the opening reception. Dance performances will be held at 6 p.m. by Adam Baranello and A&G Dance. SOUTHAMPTON
“NOT THE DEVIL’S WORKSHOP: WOMEN’S HAND WORK, 1800-1930” opens on Saturday with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. The exhibit remains on view through April 27. The show includes 19th century paintings, tatting, lace and other hand-made works. A full slate of events accompanies the show. PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.: A Personal Portrait” will screen on tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m. The one-hour interview was filmed by producer Arnold Michaelis and recently rediscovered by cinematographer George Silano, who will attend the screening. SUFFOLK COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY - “Focus 3: Eastville Community, A Freed Black Working Community, Patterns and Themes” will take place on Feb 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. The lecture is part of the current exhibtion, “Hidden and Forbidden: Art and Objects of Intolerance, Depictions of Blacks in America.” The presentation will be led by Georgette Grier-Key, Ed.D and Emily Button Kambic, Ph.D candidate.
