AMAGANSETT
NEOTERIC FINE ART - "Exquisite Corpse.2: The Surfboard As Body" fundraiser presents surfboards composed of three sections made by three different artists who were unaware of how their piece would fit with others. The surfboards will be sold in a silent auction that culminates with an Event Night on Saturday from to 6 10 p.m. Final bids due by 10 p.m. Curated by Mike Solomon. EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS
JOHN DREW THEATER AT GUILD HALL - "Audrey Flack and the History of Art Band" performs on Saturday at 8 p.m. Dick Cavett hosts the evening with includes live music and a special presentation of a rarely seen video of Jackson Pollock by Hans Namuth. Interviews by Helen Harrison and Gail Levin accompany the screening. Harrison is the director of the Pollock-Krasner House & Study Center. Levin is the author of the Lee Krasner biography. The concert opens with performances by Caroline Doctorow, Evan Frankel and Michael Weiskopf. Tickets are $35 to $23 for Guild Hall members.
EAST END HOSPICE BOX ART AUCTION PREVIEW on Wednesday (Aug 29) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hoie Hall at St. Luke's Church, 18 James Lane, East Hampton, NY. Boxes will be on view on Wednesday (Aug 29) and Thursday (Aug 30) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The preview event is free. The Box Art Auction takes place on Saturday, Sept 8, at the Ross School Center for Well-Being in East Hampton. Tickets are $75 and benefits East End Hospice. POLLOCK-KRASNER HOUSE AND STUDY CENTER at THE FIREPLACE PROJECT – “Men of Fire: Discussion by Lisa Mintz Messinger” takes place on Sunday at 5 p.m. Lorenzo will discuss Pollock's Orozco-influenced drawings, especially those from the sketchbooks in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection. She will demonstrate the ways that Pollock adapted Orozco's motifs and themes while developing his own creative expression. Messinger is an associate curator of modern and contemporary art at the Metropolitan Museum. Admission is $5 or free for members of The Pollock-Krasner House. The Fireplace Project is located at 851 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton, NY. The exhibition is presented at The Pollock-Krasner House and runs through Oct 27. ASHAWAGH HALL - "Seven Points of View" Views at Ashawagh has an opening reception for the weekend only show on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Exhibiting artists are Nancy Ascher, Susan Carlo, David Disick, Chris Farhood, Mary Grossman, Stephanie Reit, and Marcia Tucker. REMSENBURG
THE REMSENBURG ACADEMY – “99 Embraces” by Gina Gilmour and Eberle Damron is on view weekends only through Sept 2. The exhibition includes linoleum prints, drawings and works with fabric. Improvisational concerts by The Hidden City Orchestra will be held on consecutive Sundays (Aug 26 and Sept 2) at noon. The music will interpret the art in the exhibition. The concerts are titled “Three Sundays, Ninety-Nine Embraces.” Admission is free. The Remsenburg Academy is located at 130 South Country Road, Remsenburg, NY.
