Dan Rizzie at Peter Marcelle Gallery

Peter Marcelle Gallery is pleased to present recent work by Dan Rizzie from Aug 25 through Sept 9, 2012.

An Opening Reception takes place on Saturday, Aug 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Peter Marcelle Gallery is located at 2411 Main Street, Bridgehampton, N.Y.

 

Dan Rizzie is a skillful and inventive painter, known for his detailed collage work and the textural quality of his surfaces. His work, often influenced by the rhythms of the natural world, incorporates materials such as flashe, parchment, printed materials and newsprint.

He has had dozens of solo exhibitions, most recently at the Gerald Peters Gallery in Santa Fe, NM. His work is part of permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Scottsdale Museum of Art, the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and many prestigious corporate collections throughout the United States.

A nationally recognized artist, Dan Rizzie was born in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1951 and grew up in India, Egypt, Jordan and Jamaica. He received his BFA from Hendrix College in Arkansas in 1973 and his MFA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1975. He first began to achieve national recognition in Texas.

In 1989, he relocated to the East End where he currently resides in Sag Harbor.

"New Work by Dan Rizzie" will be exhibited from Aug 25 through Sept 9, 2012 at the Peter Marcelle Gallery.
