This weekend brings the Fourth of July to the Hamptons art scene. As fitting, there's an explosion of art opening to enthrall the eyes and the mind. Here's the weekly round up of options.

BRIDGEHAMPTON

SILAS MARDER GALLERY - “Past and Present” opens on Sat with a reception from 5 - 9 p.m. The exhibition runs through July 29.

Also taking place is the Eat Drink Local Film Festival. Activities include a Honey Bee demonstration (6 p.m.), local food vendors (7 p.m.), and screenings of short films (8:30 p.m.). The films were selected by Andrea Grover of the Parrish Art Museum. The event is presented in partnership with the Parrish Art Museum and Edible East End Magazine. PETER MARCELLE GALLERY - “Darius Yektai - New Works” has an opening reception tonight (Friday) from 6 to 8 p.m. The show runs through July 9. The gallery is located at 2411 Main Street, Bridgehampton, NY. www.petermarcellecontemporary.com

KATHRYN MARKEL FINE ARTS - “New paintings - Christian Haub and Rory MacArthur” has a reception on Sat from 6 to 8 p.m. The show remains on view through July 17. The gallery is located at 2418 Montauk Hwy, Bridgehampton, NY. www.markelfinearts.com

EAST HAMPTON AND SPRINGS 

THE FIREPLACE PROJECT - “InsideOutsiders - Mary Heilmann and Friends” officially opens the gallery for the season. A reception will be held on Sat from 6 to 8 p.m. Exhibiting artists include Don Christensen, Sabra Moon Elliot, Roy Fowler, Rick Liss, David Reed, Ned Smyth, Mike Solomon, Claudia Spinelli, Stephen Westfall, and Steve White. GUILD HALL - “Escape: Video Art” opens on Sat from 4 to 6 p.m. A Panel Discussion with the video artists and guest curators takes place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The exhibition was co-curated by Lauren Cornell and Hanne Mugaas. Cornell is the executive director of Rhizome and an adjunct curator at the New Museum. Mugaas is an independent curator. HARPER'S BOOKS - "Reed Krakoff: One Chairhas an opening on Sat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through July 11. The installation was inspired by Krakoff's exploration of possible variations of a single upholstered chair. The work debuted at Salon 94 in New York City in February 2012. GLENN HOROWITZ BOOKSELLER - "Paula Hayes: Drawings and Objects" has an opening reception on Sat from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition runs through July 30. ASHAWAGH HALL - "Solo show by Jerry Schwabe" will be held this weekend only. An opening takes place on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition includes sculpture and paintings. Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Road, Springs, NY. www.jerryschwabe.com

EAST HAMPTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY - “Special Tour by EHHS Director Richard Barons” of "Moran: A Family Celebration of Home and Place" will be held on Sat from 10 to 11 a.m. The tour is free but donations are appreciated. JAMESPORT

JEDEDIAH HAWKINS INN - “WEHM Rock Art Show” opens today and runs through July 8 (closed on July 4). Show hours vary. Art by artist / rock stars include Paul McCartney, Jerry Garcia, John Entwistle, Jimi Hendrix, Ronnie Wood, Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, Robby Krieger, Tony Bennett, Jon Anderson, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, John Mellencamp and others.

SOUTHAMPTON

SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER - “Abstraction - The Subjective Impulse” will have an artist reception on Thursday, July 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show features work by Josh Dayton, Carol Hunt, Dennis Leri, Fulvio Massi and Tom Wasik. The exhibition was curated by Arlene Bujese.  The show runs through Aug 6.
