4 North Main Gallery is located at 4 North Main Gallery, Southampton, NY. The gallery is open daily from 1 to 6 p.m.
Alex Coulter will be showing a range of new work including nudes, florals and manga. His artist statement describes his art as follows:
My art has always been about process over product, more specifically the creative journey as it applies to various media. I often begin with watercolor, which I find to be the most unpredictable and unconscious of mediums.
For me, watercolor is the easiest way to tame the monkey mind into giving up its subterranean revelations. Once I have a “finished” watercolor, i.e. one whose final composition is sufficiently interesting to stand as a sort of Jungian map of intentions and executions, I proceed to blow it up and, using acrylic gel, transfer it to a larger surface. The final result combines the immediacy of the original watercolor with the power of a larger scale."

Sarah Jaffe Turnbull will exhibit new ceramics including work from her moon series and figuative work made by Raku firing. Turnbull turned her focus to figurative ceramics a few years ago. Her work aims to invoke the nuances of human nonverbal expression.
