The Artists Alliance of East Hampton, founded in 1984 in honor of Jimmy Ernst, internationally acclaimed abstract artist, will be conducting its 27th Annual Summer Studio Tour and 18th Annual Member Exhibit in July 2012.

The Member Exhibit, which will showcase paintings, drawings, sculpture, mixed media works and photographs of many of the Artists Alliance members, will be on view at Ashawagh Hall, in the historic heart of Springs, from July 6 to July 15, 2012.

An Opening Reception will be on held on Friday, July 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the exhibit will be open to the public each day from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

On Wednesday, July 11, there will be a workshop conducted by GOLDEN Artists Paints, and on Friday, July 13, the artists of the Plein Air Painters of the East End will hold a painting session outside Ashawagh Hall.

The Studio Tour, now in its 27th year, offers an intimate glance into the living and working environment of many of today’s East End artists. The two-day, self-guided tour will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 6 and July 7, 2012.

The following artists will take part in this event: Casey Chalem Anderson, Beth Barry, Rosalind Brenner, Michael Cardacino, Joe Chierchio, the studio of Elizabeth Delson (1932-2005), Bernice Faegenburg, James Del Grosso, Salvatore Gulla, Peter Gumpel, Barbara Hadden, Phyllis Hammond, Giancarlo Impiglia, Deirdre Kline, Andrea McCafferty, Martin Megna, Mariann Megna, Deborah Palmer, Alyce Peifer, Mark Perry, Sheila Rotner, Gene Samuelson, Daniel Schoenheimer, Clare Schoenheimer, Joyce Silver, Christine Chew-Smith, Frank Sofo and Athos Zacharias.

Artists opening their studios will also take part in the Member Exhibit. This will allow a preview of the art which can be seen on the Tour. Artworks by tour participants will be specially marked.

Studios are located in East Hampton, Springs, Water Mill, Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor. The Official Studio Tour map provides easy driving directions. Original works of art will be available for purchase at each studio.

Tickets are $40 and admits two. They are available online at www.aaeh.org (The Artists Alliance of East Hampton website). Tickets can also be purchased during the AAEH Member Exhibit at Ashawagh Hall plus all BookHampton stores; Golden Eagle Art Supply in East Hampton; Hampton Photo Arts in Bridghampton; and Gone Local in Amagansett.

This year's Studio Tour is dedicated to the memory of a long time Alliance member, artist Dallas Ernst, wife of Jimmy Ernst, in whose honor the Artist Alliance was founded in 1984. Dallas Ernst passed away on June 2, 2011.
