Livia Mosanu was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1980. Her family moved to the United States shortly after the fall of the communist regime. Livia received a BS in Computer Science and a BA in Studio Art from University of Minnesota in 2002. After college she worked in the Information Technology industry in Minneapolis MN. While working she kept making art, a pursuit she loved since childhood. Finally this passion for art turned into a profession when she moved to the East Coast. She is a recent MFA graduate from New York Academy of Art in New York City, class of 2015. Livia now works on large scale oil paintings of the ocean, a subject that allows her to investigate formal qualities of painting as well as the ‘sublime’. She has exhibited in New York and New Jersey and is the recipient of the Ruth Katzman Scholarshipr for the Artist-in-Residency Program at The Vytlacil Campus of The Art Students League of New York. She lives and works in Princeton, NJ.
