Venue: Southampton Cultural Center

Dates: Summer 2017, Mondays,  dates TBD, 10:30 am - 1:30 pm; Tuition: $ 275

The subjects of this workshop will be Beach, Dunes, local parks, and store front scenes, consisting of awnings and Windows and people strolling alone the sidewalk. We will go on photographic walks to capture great beach and dune scenes as well and walk through town to get the perfect lighting for your paintings. We will paint outside as well as in the studio. I want to make everyone very familiar with painting Plein air as well as from photographs. We use a limited palette (6 or 8 colors ) and 6 brushes. The start of a painting is the absolute most important part of a painting. My theory for a very successful painting is.... "Slow and Accurate". If you complete each step as accurately as possible ( the design, the perspective, the drawing, and block in the average color shapes), you will have a perfect start to complete your painting. Students bring their own tripod and pochade box ( or French easel).
