Every paintbrush holds a story and yet what makes this paintbrush distinctive is that it speaks to our age as distinct from any other – as witness to a medium that is shaping all our lives and our stories, inside art and out.

In 1984, shortly after moving to New York City from Atlanta, my oils began to morph into electronic squares . . . I had no idea what a pixel was -- however it was clear that the spaces in between were going electronic. This led me to a catastrophic plunge where I plugged my beloved brush into a world of pixels . . . and unknown possibilities. From 4 colors on an IBM to millions of colors on a MacBookPro -- it’s been quite a journey. The six images shown here are close up details revealing the marks and multiple layers within a recent digital drawing “Paintbrush Catastrophe.”
