Southampton Arts Center SummerFest

The Southampton Arts Center presents the annual “SummerFest Food and Wine Festival” on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6 to 10 p.m. in Southampton, NY.

Celebrate the success of the Southampton Arts Center’s 5th season at the annual Culinary Arts Festival. This year the Center will honor its board Co-Chair Simone Levinson with the 2017 Champion of the Arts Award. Simone Levinson and her husband David are part of the original Founders Circle, and she has served as a Founding Board Co-Chair for the past seven years.

SummerFest will feature a wide selection of dishes from a host of celebrated restaurants and chefs across the East End. Guests can also enjoy the exhibition, “About Face: Contemporary Portraiture,” presented with New York Academy of Art, as well as music by DJ Karin Ward.

Thursday Night Live Jazz 

The Jam Session Inc. presents a “Late Summer Special Feature of the Thursday Night LIVE Band” on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bay Burger in Sag Harbor.

Listen to Billy Drewes on saxes, Alex Sipiagin on trumpet, Bill O’Connell, on piano, with Marcus McLaurine on bass and Claes Brondal playing drums.

Final Weekend for “As You Like It” at Bay Street 

Bay Street Theater presents the final weekend to catch “As You Like It,” on stage through September 3, 2017. Performances will be held on Thursday, August 31, Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2 at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, September 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

As You Like It,” a comedy by William Shakespeare directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle with original music by Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz, is brought to new life in a production filled with Jazz Era inspired music. The production features Tony, Emmy and Academy Award Winner Ellen Burstyn as Jaques.

Folk Music & BBQ on the Parrish Art Museum Terrace

The Parrish Art Museum presents “Music on the Terrace: Bluegrass & BBQ with the Edith and Bennett Band” on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 6 p.m.

Enjoy live outdoor music with the Edith & Bennett Band performing folk and roots music at the Museum’s annual Bluegrass & BBQ Labor Day weekend event. Barbecue and specialty drinks from the Golden Pear Café will be available for purchase. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets to enjoy the live music from the Terrace and the lawn.

Husband/wife duo Edith Gawler and Bennett Konesni are musicians and work song scholars who together play old-time fiddle, banjo music, Swedish dance tunes, and farmer’s ballads and hollers.

Greenport Gallery Walk

The Greenport Gallery Walk’s next self-guided art walk in the Village of Greenport will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. The free event repeats the first Friday evening of every month through December 2017

Art galleries and artist studios welcome late night visitors with special events and exhibitions, while select village merchants are open late. Most galleries and businesses are located along Main Street (Route 25) plus South Street and Carpenter Street in the Village of Greenport on the North Fork.

While in Greenport, be sure to stop by the Opening Reception at the South Street Gallery. For “Impressions – New Works by Nine Artists,” the gallery will host an Opening Reception on Friday, September 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through September 25, 2017. Artists included in the exhibition are: Dan Welden, Chris Ann Ambery, Myrna Burks, Lorena Salcedo Watson, Annie Wildey, Scott Bluedorn, Roy Nicholson, Andrea Cote and Jack Youngerman.

Annual Outdoor Screening of “JAWS” 

Southampton Arts Center and the Hamptons International Film Festival will present the annual Outdoor Screening of the movie “Jaws” (1975, Drama, Rated PG, 124 minutes) on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 8:30 p.m.

Directed by Steven Spielberg and acclaimed by critics worldwide, “Jaws” continues to shock moviegoers with its riveting tale of three men allied in a life-and-death hunt to destroy a malevolent man-eating shark. Starring Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss.

Two Music Events at Guild Hall

GE Smith's “Portraits” with Billy Squier on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 8 p.m.

GE Smith presents “Portraits” with legendary guitarist Billy Squier, the master behind such mega-hits as “The Stroke” and “Lonely is the Night.” Come hear the sound of two fiery musicians playing the iconic rock star’s work, stripped down. Billy Squier has written and recorded 11 albums and sold nearly 20 million records. He divides his time between Long Island’s East End and New York City.

 The Doo Wop Project will be performed on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 7 and 9:30 p.m.

A performance tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. Throughout the show DWP brings unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence to recreate—and in some cases entirely reimagine—some of the greatest music in American pop and rock history.

Sunset Fridays & Saturdays at the Wine Stand

Wölffer Estate Vineyard presents “Sunset Fridays & Saturdays at the Wine Stand” every Friday and Saturday until September 30, 2017 from 5 p.m. until sunset.

Experience Hamptons living at its most laid-back on Friday and Saturday evenings at Wölffer Estate’s Montauk Highway outpost. Bring a blanket or beach chairs and enjoy wines by the glass and bottle, cheese and charcuterie plates and an expansive vineyard view as the sun goes down.

Rising Stars Piano Series Presents Bryan Wallick

Southampton Cultural Center's Rising Stars Piano Series presents Bryan Wallick on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Bryan Wallick is gaining recognition as one of the great American virtuoso pianists of his generation. Gold medalist at the 1997 Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition in Kiev, he has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and South Africa. The program will present works by Bach, Albeniz and Liszt.

Westhampton Beach Festival of the Arts

The Westhampton Beach Festival of the Arts will be held on Saturday, September 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Great Lawn on Main Street in Westhampton Beach. 

Now in its ninth year, the Westhampton Beach Festival of the Arts presents crafts, jewelry, ceramics, metalworks, art and more in an open air non-juried show. Admission is free.

North Fork Cruise & Tour

The East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation presents a “Bud Light Cruise & Tour” on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m.

The family-friendly 2-hour excursion includes: round-trip cruise to the iconic Long Beach Bar “Bug” Lighthouse, a narrated tour from an expert guide, and time to explore a beloved North Fork landmark.
