Artists Deborah Buck and John Monti drew a steady stream of art fans when their two-person show, "Out of the Box" opened on Saturday night (May 27, 2017) at ILLE Arts in Amagansett. The exhibition pairs cast resin sculptures inspired by organic forms and vegetation by Monti with energetic abstract paintings by Buck. While each artist's work is distinct from the other, the art on view engages in intense conversation. Connected by composition or color, the works also compliment each other through vibrant forms that are enlivened or inspired by forces just out of view.
John Monti has exhibited his work in museums both nationally and internationally. A professor of Fine Arts at Pratt Institute, he is based in Brooklyn. Deborah Buck's art has been exhibited in galleries and museums in New York, Boston, Baltimore and more, including group shows held at the Gray Art Gallery of New York University and the Bronx Museum (New York) and Museum of Fine Arts (Boston). Buck is based in The Hamptons and New York City. She is the founder of Buck House and a board of trustee member of Pratt Institute and member of LongHouse Reserve's Fine Art committee.
