LongHouse Reserve attracted a crowd of stars to celebrate its "Serious Moonlight" summer benefit and LongHouse Reserve's 25th anniversary at an outdoor gala held on July 23, 2016. Held on LongHouse's cultivated grounds, the gala netted $500,000 for the East Hampton design and art organization founded by textile designer Jack Lenor Larsen, according to the non-profit museum.

The LongHouse Arts Patron Award honored sisters Molly Chappellet and Luanne Wells and was presented by Martha Stewart. A surprise award was given to LongHouse Reserve President Dianne Benson.

Attendees included Robert Wilson, Cindy Sherman, Fred Savage and his wife Lynn, Alice Aycock, Nicole Miller, Mary Jane Marcasiano, Ralph Pucci, Sherri Donghia, Ralph Gibson, Larry Warsh, interior designer Alex Papachristidis and Scott Nelson, Dorothy Lichtenstein, Elizabeth Strong-Cuevas, Veronica Atkins, April Gornik and Eric Fischl, Emilia Kabakov, Lucy Winton and Bryan Hunt, Lynda Benglis, Mary Heilmann, Lana Jokel, Alexandra Munroe, Bridget Fleming, Bonnie Comley and Stewart Lane, Ron Guttman, dancer Jonah Bokaer, Terri Sultan of the Parrish Museum and Andrea Grover, who soon moves from The Parrish to become the Executive Director of Guild Hall.

Attendees were welcomed to the gala by walking through a leafy “Walking Through Time” tunnel that transported them into a magical universe of sounds, movement and art. Music filled the air, courtesy of contemporary classical music composer Nico Muhly, who performed his compositions “Quiet Music” and “A Hudson Cycle”. Muhly is the youngest composer ever commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera and has received additional commissions from Carnegie Hall, the Philadelphia Orchestra, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Library of Congress.

Also greeting guests were dance performances among the sculpture gardens by NYU dancers, led by Em Watson, a LongHouse Creative Scholarship award winner and NYU graduate.

During the dinner, video messages were screened from past honorees including Laurie Anderson, Ai Weiwei and Dale Chihuly and a preview of an upcoming documentary on LongHouse was screened. Live music followed by techno-pop diva Nona Hendryx followed by music spun by DJ Donna D’Cruz.
