There's never a lack of things to do in the summer season on the East End. We've put together a list of our top picks for art and cultural events taking place over the next two weeks. Expect a live installation, music, book readings, theater, a gallery talk and more through July 31, 2016.

1. Live Installation by Jonah Bokaer at The Parrish Art Museum

"Jonah Bokaer: The Disappearance Portraits" takes place on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Parrish Art Museum.

"The Disappearance Portraits" is a one-night live installation by multi-media artist and choreographer Jonah Bokaer as part of the museum's "Platform" series. The piece was choreographed to correspond with the surrounding landscape of the Parrish Art Museum. Audience members will be seated outdoors on benches incorporated into the museum's architecture. The performance is set to a music composition by Soundwalk Collective.

2. Reading with Novelist Alan Furst at Canio's Books

Alan Furst has a book reading on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Canio's Books.

Espionage novelist Alan Furst will read from his newest book, A Hero of France. The historical spy thriller centers around a story of Resistance fighters evading military police in Nazi-occupied Paris.

3. Sutton Foster Performs at WHBPAC

Sutton Foster Performs on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 8 p.m. at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.

Theatrical and television performer Sutton Foster will sing Broadway favorites. Sutton is known for her Tony award-winning work on the Broadway stage.

4. Book Signing With Artist Michael Combs

A book signing with Michael Combs takes place on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at The Parrish Art Museum.

Artist Michael Combs will sign copies of his new book, Michael Combs. Combs has work on view in the museum's "Radical Seafaring" exhibition and is part of the Permanent Collection.

5. Interdisciplinary Theater Work With Martha Redbone 

Martha Redbone Presents "BONE HILL: THE CONCERT" on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 8 p.m. at Guild Hall.

"BONE HILL: THE CONCERT" is an interdisciplinary musical theater work inspired by singer/songwriter Martha Redbone's family lineage in the Appalachian Mountains. The piece travels back in time through Redbone's childhood and beyond, spanning the lives of four generations of women in a Cherokee family. The work is written by Martha Redbone, Roberta Uno and Aaron Whitby, with the original compositions and score by Redbone and Whitby.

6. Gallery Talk With Carol Ross at Guild Hall

A Gallery Talk with Carol Ross takes place on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Guild Hall.

Artist Carol Ross will lead a Gallery Talk with with Christina Mossaides Strassfield, Museum Director/Chief Curator of Guild Hall. Ross' large, freestanding metal sculptures and small lyrical wall-reliefs are on view in Guild Hall's Furman Sculpture Garden and Wasserstein Family Gallery through October 1, 2016.

7. "Funny! I'm a Woman With Children..." at Bay Street Theater

"Funny! I'm a Woman With Children..." Featuring Melissa Errico takes place on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Bay Street Theater.

"Funny! I'm a Woman With Children..." is a theatrical performance incorporating songs from Broadway musicals and films. The musically diverse show covers themes of romance, marriage, love and family.

8. Jazz on the Steps: Marcus McLaurine & Bill Smith

"Jazz on the Steps: Marcus McLaurine & Bill Smith" takes place on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at noon at Southampton Arts Center.

"Jazz on the Steps" is an informal concert series presented by the Jam Session, Inc. on the steps of the Southampton Arts Center. The edition held on July 31 features music by Marcus McLaurine on bass and Bill Smith on piano. Performances take place every Sunday through September 4, 2016.
