This weekend welcomes the first serious round of Hamptons benefits and two art fairs in Bridgehampton to visit. On the North Fork, an art sale benefit for WPPB takes place at South Street Gallery. Read on to discover our picks for some of the best ways to spend the weekend in The Hamptons and on the East End.

1.  Art Fair Browsing

Art Southampton and Market Art + Design return to Bridgehampton to present contemporary and modern art this weekend. Both fairs have something to offer collectors and art fans like. Market Art + Design is located on the grounds of the Bridgehampton Museum and Art Southampton is located at Nova's Ark Project.

2.  New York Academy of Art Cocktail Reception

If you're planning to visit Art Southampton, Friday night might be a good time to do and meet actress and new curator Brooke Shields while there. From 5 to 7 p.m., Shields co-hosts a Curator Talk with co-curator David Kratz, president of the New York Academy of Art on the Academy's booth exhibition "Call of the Wild." The show is made up of over 30 paintings, prints and sculptor by Academy alumni with the animal kingdom and the natural worlds are curatorial guideposts. The talk and cocktail reception takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Art Southampton is located at Nova's Ark Project.

3.  Gallery Opening Reception

"Ashley Bickerton: Wall-Wall" opens his solo show at Tripoli Gallery with an Opening Reception on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 8, 2016. New works on view by Ashley Bickerton re-visit the artist's "wall contemplation units" created in the 1980s. 4. Saturday Night Benefits - The Parrish & Bay Street Theater

It's a tough one but there's no way to be in two places at once. If attending a Hamptons benefit is on your list, then The Parrish's Midsummer Benefit or Bay Street's Annual Summer Gala are sought after events to attend. 5.  Reception and Book Signing with Designer Mark Zeff

A Reception and Book Signing with Mark Zeff takes place on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Sylvester & Co. Modern General. International Interior and Environmental Designer Mark Zeff will sign his book, “BLACKBARN,” at Sylvester & Co. 6.  Postcard Art Benefit

"Postcards for 88.3 WPPB" unfolds this weekend at South Street Gallery in Greenport. A Show Preview takes place Friday and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m with the Sale taking place on Saturday at 6 p.m. The exhibition sale presents mystery artworks on paper measuring 5 x 7 inches with the artist names on the back of the artwork and revealed after purchase. 7.  Hamptons International Film Festival's SummerDoc#1 

Hamptons International Film Festival presents SummerDoc #1: Author: The JT Leroy Story on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Guild Hall. Alec Baldwin & David Nugent host the screening as the kickoff of HIFF’s SummerDocs Series. The film explores the story of JT LeRoy, a persona that gained fame in the literary world only to be revealed as a fictional creation breathed into life by Laura Albert, a San Franciscan writer and punk rocker. A conversation with Director Jeff Feuerzeig follows the screening. Click here for event details. Admission is $25, $23 for members. 8.  AB-EX Studio Visit

Hector Leonardi opens his Bridgehampton studio as a special Studio Visit on Sunday at 11 a.m. as part of Market Art + Design. Hosted and courtesy of Walker Waugh Art, click here for details. The Brooklyn-based gallery is presenting his work at Market Art + Design allowing for the unique opportunity to see a curated presentation of Leonardi's work and then hear the artist speak while giving a tour of his studio.

9. Panel on Art of the 80s

Another return to Art Southampton is in order to attend the panel: Art of the 80s - Renewed Interest. Led by Gracie Mansion, panelists will discuss the art and artists of the 1980s and their current resurgence in the auction market. Mansion, who opened her legendary East Village gallery in 1982, offers her unique perspective on this turning point in NYC's art scene.
