The 78th Guild Hall Artists Members Exhibition is now accepting registration at GuildHall.org for the oldest non-juried museum exhibition on Long Island. The show is one of the few non-juried exhibitions still offered. The Artists Members show opens on April 23, 2016 with a reception from 4 - 6 pm and remains on through Saturday June 4, 2016. 

Top Honors in the exhibition received a solo show at Guild Hall's Spiga Gallery. Other awards are bestowed in multiple categories. This year's Awards Judge is JiaJia Fei, the Director of Digital for The Jewish Museum.

Online applications are encouraged. However, there are three ways to submit artwork entries for Guild Hall's 2016 Artists Members Exhibition. Every artist member who submits an entry will be included in the exhibition. Artists can become members of Guild Hall by clicking here.

Online applications will be accepted through Friday, April 15, 2016 at 3 p.m. Click here to enter.

Mailed entries must be postmarked by April 8, 2016. Paper registration packages for mailing are available by request via phone at 631.324.0806 or online at GuildHall.org. 

In-person registration is accepted during the artwork drop-off period on Friday, April 15, 2016 and Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10 am. to 4 p.m. at Guild Hall.

Note: All registrations received AFTER Tuesday, April 12, 2016  at 5 p.m. (no matter the submission method) will not appear in the master exhibition checklist. All artists members of Guild Hall are encouraged to apply for the non-jured and judged art exhibition. Every artist who applies has their work included in the show. Awards are bestowed in several categories with the Top Honors receiving a solo show at the Hamptons museum.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for artists to exhibit their work in this long-standing exhibition which is viewed as kicking off the art season in the Hamptons,” said Guild Hall Director/Chief Curator Christina Strassfield. “Every artist in our community is invited to join Guild Hall and participate with the potential of being awarded a solo exhibition.”

This year’s awards judge is JiaJia Fei, who has just assumed the newly created position as “Director of Digital” for The Jewish Museum where she will oversee the digital strategy of the museum's curatorial and education programming on the museum’s website, blog, apps, e-mail, and social media.

For the past five years, JiaJia served as Associate Director, Digital Marketing at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York bringing art to a broader public online through award-winning digital initiatives. JiaJia received her BA in History of Art from Bryn Mawr College, and has lectured widely on social media and digital marketing at museum conferences and universities worldwide, including Museums & the Web, CultureGeek, College Art Association, Sotheby’s Art Institute, New York University, University of Oregon, Fundación Proa, TEDx Martha’s Vineyard, and MIT Media Lab.

In addition to Top Honors, the awards include Best Representational Painting, Best Abstract Painting, Best Sculpture, Best Work on Paper, Best Mixed Media, Best Photograph and numerous Honorable Mention citations, along with the $250 Catherine and Theo Hios Landscape Award and the Best New Member Artist presented to one artist who is new to the members exhibition or who has not entered in the past five years. Many of the exhibited works will be available for sale.

The Members Exhibition annually features more than 450 artists and is coordinated by Stephanie deTroy Miller, Guild Hall’s Registrar/Curatorial Assistant/Lewis B. Cullman Associate for Museum Education. The installation design is by Christina Mossaides Strassfield, Director/Chief Curator of Guild Hall Museum.

For 78 years Guild Hall Museum has opened its galleries to showcase the work of its artist members who represent a wide spectrum of professional and amateur development. All enter to underscore their support for the museum and its dynamic role in the community as a Museum, Theater and Educational Arts Center.
