Summer Hamptons benefits have started to slip into memory. If you're looking for benefit supporting the arts, then New York City is a good place to look. We've put together a list of a few events benefiting the arts held in New York City in October. All support artists or organizations fostering the arts.  

October 14 (Wednesday)

“The Nouveau Classical Project’s Lucky 7 Benefit Gala” takes place on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Landmark On the Park in New York City. The VIP cocktail hour starts at 7 p.m., with dinner, awards and performances beginning at 8 p.m.

Join the NCP in kicking off its seventh season and honoring Creative Director Simon Collins and pianist Kathleen Supové with the NCP Visionary Awards. The evening will feature NCP playing music by living composers, fine food and drink, and silent auction. Proceeds from this benefit will help the NCP produce projects, support artists, and continue their mission to promote new music to new and unexpected audiences.

October 15 (Thursday)

“The New York Academy of Art’s Take Home a Nude Art Auction and Party” takes place on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Sotheby’s in New York City. The event will honor Tom Wolfe a New York Academy of Art founding supporter and novelist and the Academy supporter and art critic Jerry Saltz. 

Cocktails and the auction begin at 6 p.m., with dinner starting at 9 p.m. “Take Home a Nude” will feature a silent and live auction with work by more than 150 emerging and established artists. The year’s theme is “Celebrating Instagram.” Enjoy a selfie station at the benefit and later in the evening the artist Ryan McGinness will unveil an artwork composed from his own daily Instagram posts.

“The Park Avenue Armory Gilded Gala” takes place on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Park Avenue Armory in New York City. The gala is honoring Angela E. Thompson, Charles A.Y. Thompson and Amanda J.T. Riegel. The Artist Honoree is Marina Abramović. Cocktails start at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and the program beginning at 7:30 p.m. The gala is black tie with a touch of gold.

This year’s gala reflects a contemporary take on the notion of “gilded,” with an extravaganza designed by the set designer Stefan Beckman. The evening also includes entertainment that ranges from bel canto to the Billboard Hot 100 directed by the opera/pop concert director Kevin Newbury and featuring opera diva Sondra Radvanovsky and electro-pop duo The Young Professionals.

October 19 (Monday)

“The MASS MoCA Benefit” takes place on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 583 Park Avenue in New York City. Enjoy cocktails, dinner, live auction, and a performance by the Brooklyn based nine-piece group Red Baraat. The annual fall benefit will be co-chaired by artist Jenny Holzer and experimental music pioneer Laurie Anderson. Both will take residence at the museum when it debuts its Phase III expansion in 2017.

October 21 (Wednesday)

“The 2015 Dieu Donné Annual Benefit and Auction” will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Alexander Gray Associates in New York City. The benefit will honor Melvin Edwards and Janice Oresman and will celebrate 25 years of artist residencies. Nicolas D. Lowry of Swann Auction Galleries will host the evening. Participating artists include Gina Beavers, Ian Cooper, Walter Robinson, Kate Shepherd, Chuck Webster, and B. Wurtz.

A VIP reception and Preview takes place at 5:30 p.m., the Reception and Silent Auction starts at 6:30 p.m. and an Artist’s Pictionary Tournament begins at 7:30 p.m. 

A silent auction of artworks created on Dieu Donné paper by 100 contributing artists will be on view at Dieu Donné at 315 West 36th Street, New York through October 15. They will be available for bidding in the gallery and online through October 21. The “Featured Silent Auction –Bidding” includes works by 20 artists such as Glenn Ligon, Simryn Gill, Leslie Wayne, Ursula von Rydingsvard, and more. You can bid at Artspace here.

October 22 (Thursday)

“The Sculptors Guild #ThisIsNotABox Gala” takes place on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Side Show Gallery in Brooklyn. Enjoy food, drinks, live music and art! Tickets are $50.00.

October 29 (Thursday)

“The American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba (AFLFC) A Havana Night Benefit Gala” takes place on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Copacabana Nightclub in New York City. The annual fundraising event will celebrate AFLFC’s 15th anniversary building cultural bridges through exchange programs in the arts between the U.S and Cuba. Honorees are Harry Belafonte, social activist, singer, songwriter and actor; James Durkin, Senior Vice President of Tishman Construction Corp.; Danny Glover, humanitarian, actor, and producer; Michael Krinsky, Senior Partner at the law firm of Rabinowitz Boudin Standard Krinsky & Lieberman, P.C.

AFLFC will present, in an exclusive concert, Dominican singer José Alberto "El Canario" and Cuban musicians Fernándo Dewars and Alden González from Septeto Santiaguero de Cuba. The evening will feature cocktails, a buffet dinner, an award presentation and a live and silent auction including original works by internationally recognized Cuban and American artists such as Kcho, Yoan and Iván Capote, Carlos Quintana, Wifredo Lam, Paul Jenkins, Giancarlo Impiglia among others.
