This weekend boasts an abundance of art events in the Hamptons. Art lovers can take their pick of exhibition receptions across the East End. AMAGANSETT

PILGRIM SURF + SUPPLY - “Surf Craft: Design and the Culture of Board Riding” has a Book Signing Event today (Thursday) at 4 p.m. The event is free, RSVP is appreciated. BRIDGEHAMPTON

SILAS MARDER GALLERY - “Ryan McGinness: Sign Trees” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 29. Peter Watrous Trio will provide live music from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Reception. The exhibition includes recent paintings and sculptures incorporating the symbolism of the common street sign and the artist’s unique visual language. THE WHITE ROOM GALLERY - “Group Show” featuring Ellyn Tucker, Sue Zola, Bob Tucker, Bryan Greene, & June Kaplan has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. with live music by Mama Lee & Friends. The exhibition remains on view through August 17. Presented in a series of five mini "solo" shows, each artist will exhibit a small but cohesive body of work. Presented without an overarching "theme", the artists and their work were selected and link together based on their vibrant use of color. EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS

GALLERY VALENTINE - “Frost Bite: A Show by Peter Anton” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 13. Peter Anton will convert the gallery into a giant freezer with realistic sculptures of frozen treats and more. GLENN HOROWITZ BOOKSELLER - "Solo Show" by Philip Taffe has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 30. Taffe will show works on paper and illustrated books from 1982 - 2012. Glenn Horowitz Bookseller is located at 87 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937. www.glennhorowitz.com.

GUILD HALL - “Clothesline Art Sale” takes place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event showcases original works by nearly 400 East End Artists. Works range in price from $50 to $2,000, with all proceeds split 50/50 between the artist and Guild Hall. Artists can visit guildhall.org to request a registration packet to sell their artwork. There is a $10 entrance fee for artists. Admission to the sale is free.

“The Hamptons International Film Festival presents SummerDocs #2: Listen To Me Marlon takes place on Saturday at 8 p.m. Following the screening, Alec Baldwin will host a conversation with filmmaker Stevan Riley. Admission is $23, $21 for members.

LONGHOUSE RESERVE - “Surf Craft: Design and the Culture of Board Riding” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through October 10. Admission to the Reception is $10, free for members.

“Talk by Richard Kenvin” takes place on Saturday at 10 a.m. as part of “Surf Craft: Design and the Culture of Board Riding.” Admission is $20, free for members.

SPRINGS IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY at ASHAWAGH HALL - “48th Annual Artists of the Springs Invitational Exhibit” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 16. TRIPOLI GALLERY - “Lola Montes: Akashic Records” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 17. QUOGUE

ART GALLERY AT THE QUOGUE LIBRARY - “Claudia Baez - The Guermantes Way: Flowers” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 30. Claudia Baez will present a group of tightly cropped, atmospheric and gestural paintings of flowers. Art Gallery Committee members Lulie Morrisey and Cristina Kepner are chairs of the show. QUOGUE GALLERY - “Photographs by Peter Moore: A Retrospective” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 19. The exhibition showcases the myriad styles, subjects and techniques that Moore employs in his photography. Works on view range from black and white landscapes to recent abstract work.

“Laurel Sucsy + Ben Butler: Convergences” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through August 19. Sucsy works primarily as a painter and more recently as a photographer, and Butler works almost exclusively as a sculptor of wood. While their techniques and media share little in common, both are interested in the relationships of shapes, the rhythm of forms, and where edges converge and disappear.

EAST END ARTS - “Artist Talks: Artists-In-Residence Christina Schlesinger & Dawn Daisley” takes place on Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. Following the talks will be an exhibit of their works and a reception where the public is invited to talk with the artists to hear about the results of their week-long residency from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is free. SAG HARBOR

CANIO’S BOOKS - “W I T N E S S: Art Exhibition” has an Opening Reception on Friday at 5 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through September 7. The show features paintings by Dennis Snyder and photographs by Kathryn Szoka. Both artists use landscape art as a commentary on contemporary culture. SOUTHAMPTON

SOUTHAMPTON ARTS CENTER - “Conversation with Alex Kaczynski and Candace Bushnell” takes place this evening at 5:30 p.m. The talk features Guest Interviewer Cristina Cuomo. Tickets are $18.

"Whispers of Southampton: Dance Performances Presented in Partnership
with Southampton Cultural Center" 
takes place on on Saturday at 3 and 5 p.m. The site specific dance piece is choreographed and presented by Island Moving Company in Agawam Park and on the grounds of Southampton Arts Center to celebrate Southampton's 375th Anniversary. Both performances are free.

WATER MILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUMMuseum Member Reception and Introductory Talk for “Andreas Gursky: Landscapes” takes place on Sunday, August 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Coffee, mimosas, and breakfast pastries will be served. RSVP and museum membership required. This is a museum member only event with membership opportunities available by contacting the museum.

“Guided Tour of the Permanent Collection” takes place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The docent-led tour features highlights from the seven permanent collection galleries. Free with museum admission. Reservations suggested.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH

WESTHAMPTON BEACH PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - “July World Cinema Series: Testament of Youth screens from Tuesday through Thursday at 8 p.m. Andrew Botsford will introduce films each Tuesday night and discuss the film afterwards with guest commentators.
