A new Willem de Kooning exhibition opens this month bringing some Hamptons art history to NYC. The New York Antiquarian Book Fair arrives at The Armory on April 9 - 12, 2015 bringing with it Harper's Books of East Hampton. The AIPAD Photography Show arrives next from April 16 - 19, 2015 and is bound to bring some Hamptons photography talent with it. APRIL 2 (THURSDAY)

"WILLEM DE KOONING & MARTIN KIPPENBERGER” opens on April 2 at Dickinson Roundell, Inc. on the Upper East Side. An Opening Reception will be held on April 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through April 24, 2015. Willem de Kooning was based in the Hamptons.

APRIL 23 (THURSDAY)

"ANNE NEELY: WATER STORIES" opens on April 23 at Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in Chelsea. An Opening Reception will be held on April 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition continues through May 23. Neely's abstract paintings reference nature and water conservation issues.

"ARTURO VEGA: ART IN THE AGE OF POP" Panel Discussion takes place on April 23 at 7 p.m. at Howl Happening Gallery on the Lower East Side. The panel will be led by Sandra Hale Schulman, Carlo McCormick and John Holmstrom. Prior to the Panel Discussion, a prerelease of the Spiritual America Gallery Catalogue will take place at 6 p.m. Sandra Hale Schulman is a regular contributor to Hamptons Art Hub.

"SYD SOLOMON: Swingscape Paintings from the 1970s" opens on April 23 at Berry Campbell Gallery in Chelsea. An Opening Reception will be held on April 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through May 23. The show features a curated selection of fifteen paintings highlighting this important period in the artist’s career. Syd Solomon worked and lived part time in East Hampton.

APRIL 26 (SUNDAY)

"THE MAGIC OF LANDSCAPE" by BETH BARRY opens on April 26 at Julio Valdez Project Space in East Harlem. An Opening Reception will be held on April 26 from 3 to 6 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through May 17. Beth Barry has studios in East Hampton and Brooklyn.

APRIL 1 (WEDNESDAY)

"ALL/TOGETHER/DIFFERENT" closes on April 1 at Manny Cantor Center on the Lower East Side. The show is a survey of nearly 100 Lower East Side artists and organizations. Works by Daria Deshuk will be on view. Deshuk is based in Bridgehampton and NYC.

APRIL 4 (SATURDAY)

"THE LEFT FRONT: RADICAL ART IN THE 'RED DECADE,' 1929 - 1940" closes on April 4 at Grey Art Gallery. The exhibition features works by 40 artists. “The Left Front” is devoted to revolutionary American art from the era of the Great Depression. Raphael Soyer (1899-1987) is included in the exhibition. He was based in Hamptons Bays and was part of the Hampton Bays Art Group.

"ABBY GREY AND INDIAN MODERNISM: SELECTIONS FROM THE NYU ART COLLECTION" closes on April 4 at Grey Art Gallery. On view are 25 rarely seen works from the Abby Weed Grey Collection of Modern Asian and Middle Eastern Art.

APRIL 18 (SATURDAY)

“JOSETTE URSO: TREEHOUSE” closes on April 18 at Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in Chelsea. Urso’s painted abstractions reference landscape, still life, and views of New York City.

“DIANE AYOTT: JEEPERS CREEPERS” closes on April 18 at Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in Chelsea. Ayott creates layers of patterns through dots, lines and loops of paint using various application methods.

APRIL 25 (SATURDAY)

"ENIGMAS: MARTIN BARRÉ, DAVID OSTROWSKI, JULIAN SCHNABEL, REENA SPAULINGS" continues through April 25 at Andrea Rosen Gallery in Chelsea. The show is based on a novel written by art historical Alison Gingeras. The show is based on the notion of imprimatur and is curated in collaboration with Gingeras. Julian Schnabel is based in Montauk and New York City.
