EAST END, NY-

This one is a busy one for art in the Hamptons and the East End. The Springs School "Mystery Art Fair" already has people waiting in lines for the chance to purchase art for $20. Bay Street Theatre presents a weekend-long New Play Festival and art exhibitions are starting to pop.  Here's this week's list of where to find exhibition openings and cultural events on the East End.

AMAGANSETT 

ILLE ARTS GALLERY - “Koichiro Kurita” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through May 10. Kurita connects with nature through photography. The gallery is located at 216a Main Street, Amagansett, NY 11930. www.illearts.com.

CUTCHOGUE 

CASTELLO DI BORGHESE VINEYARD & WINERY - “Southold Historical Society Art Auction” takes place on Saturday with a preview at 6 p.m. followed by the auction at 7 p.m. There is a $10 entry donation which includes wine and hors d’oeuvres. The event benefits the Southampton Historical Society and the artists participating in the event. EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

ASHAWAGH HALL - "The Springs Mystery Art Sale" will be held from April 23 to 27 at Ashawagh Hall. The art exhibition will be on view April 23 - 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Closing Party and live auction takes place on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. All money raised benefits the Springs School Visiting Artist Program. Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton, NY.

GUILD HALL - “The Met: Mozart’s COSI FAN TUTTE” takes place on Saturday at 1 p.m. Music Director James Levine will conduct the opera. Actors include Susanna Phillips, Isabel Leonard, Matthew Polenzani, Rodion Pogossov, and Danielle de Niese. Tickets are $22, $20 for members, and $15 for students.

“John Drew Theater Lab: VOYEUR” by Kate Mueth and the NeoPolitical Cowgirls takes place on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The dance theatre art piece is a work-in-progress and will debut this summer. The event is free.

RIVERHEAD

EAST END ARTS - “Line” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through June 13. The juried art show will feature artwork that employs a skilled use of line. East End Arts is located at 133 East Main Street, Riverhead, NY 11901. www.eastendarts.org.

SAG HARBOR

BAY STREET THEATER - New Works Festival will be held from April 25 to 27. Free admission but reservations required to ensure seating; call 631-725-9500. Features three new play readings and a panel discussion and cocktail reception. Click here for details. www.baystreet.org.

DODDS AND EDER HOME - “Maria Schön, James DeMartis, Casey Dalene, and John Cino” have an Artists Reception on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through May 11. Schön will show abstract paintings, DeMartis will show metal and glass sculptures, Dalene will show painted designs on textiles and fabrics, and Cino will show carved wooden sculptures. RJD GALLERY - "Spring Fusion: The Retreat's 5th Annual Art Show" has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition presents works by Mary Chiaramonte, Sylvia Hommert, Kerry Sharkey-Miller, Gina Altadonna, Janet Culbertson and Patricia Parks. ROMANY KRAMORIS GALLERY - “Only You... A Memoir” by Eileen Obser has a Book Reading and Champagne Reception on Sunday at 2 p.m. Singer Jim Turner will perform 50s rock and roll songs cited in the book at the reception. SOUTHAMPTON

SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER - “ABSTRACTION: Four Perspectives” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through May 20. Artists on view include Josh Dayton, Tracy Harris, David Geiser, and Fulvio Massi. The exhibition is curated by Arlene Bujese. WAINSCOTT

LTV - “Poetry Affair” takes place on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. A Meet and Greet begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Poetry Reading at 7 p.m. The event features readings by poets Rosalind Brenner, Fran Castan, Monique Enders, Lucas Hunt, Pamela Kallimaris, Janet Kaplan, Michelle Murphy, Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan, Joanne Pilgrim, Christina Rau, Julie Sheehan, Grace Schulman, and Michelle Whittaker. The event is produced by Rosalind Brenner. Attendees are asked to bring a $5 donation or non-perishable food item for the East Hampton Food Pantry. WATERMILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM: 

SALON SERIES – Pianist Ching-Yun Hu presents a program on Friday at 6 p.m. celebrating Frederic Chopin. Includes Mazurkas, the Sonata No. 2 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 35 (Funeral March), plus a Rondo, Scherzo, Bacarolle, and  Polonaise. Tickets are $20 or $10 for museum members. Final concert in series. "JENNIFER BARTLETT: HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE - WORKS 1970 - 2011" has a VIP Preview Reception on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. A museum Members Reception will be held on Saturday, May 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition opens to the public on Sunday (April 27) and continues through July 13.
