“#NSFW: Bodies” - Vered Gallery in East Hampton. Closes April 7.
The group show presents nudes and portraiture from the early 20th century to the present day. (NSFW is an acronym for Not Safe For Work). "Flow: Ink Innovators" at Ethan Cohen New York. Closes April 6.
Pairs abstraction expressionism and traditional techniques with works made by contemporary Chinese artists and international ink painters. Includes works by Franz Kline (1910-1962), C.C. Wang (1907-2003) plus artists also featured in the MET's "Ink Art" exhibition. They include Xu Bing, Qiu Zhijie and Gu Wenda. "Ink Art: Past as Present in Contemporary China" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Closes April 6.
The exhibition presents 70 words by 35 artists born in China. The exhibition illustrates China's ancient pattern of seeking cultural renewal through the reinterpretation of past models is still a creative path being taken by contemporary artists from China.
