APRIL 3 (THURSDAY)

“ALICE HOPE: TAB” opens with a Reception on April 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ricco/Maresca Gallery in Chelsea. The solo show presents new works made from recycled pull-top tabs. The exhibition continues through May 24. Alice Hope is based in the Hamptons. She is currently artist-in-residence at WNYC Green Space in NYC.

APRIL 10 (THURSDAY)

“HORIZONS” opens with a Reception on April 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cheryl Hazan Gallery in TriBeCa. The group show features works by Russell Sharon, Jeff Muhs and Bradley Narduzzi Rex. Jeff Muhs is based in Southampton, NY.

APRIL 17 (THURSDAY)

"JULIAN SCHNABEL: VIEW OF DAWN IN THE TROPICS: PAINTING 1989 - 1990)" opens April 17 and continues through May 31 at Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea. Schnabel lives in Montauk and New York City.

"DAPHNE'S NIGHT OUT" by Marilla Palmer and "QUIET MIND, RESTLESS SOUL" by Stephanie London opens on April 17 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in Chelsea. The exhibition continues through May 17.

"FLORA, FAUNA & FORM: THE SPRING THAW" opens on April 17 and continues through April 21 at the Refinery Hotel in Midtown. An Opening Reception will be held on April 17 from 7 to 10 p.m. The group show features works by Chick Bills, Sean Capone, Jose Carlos Casado, Sally Egbert, Cara Enteles, Tapp Francke, Jerome Lucani, Glenn Marshall, Steve Miller and Jeff Muhs. The show is co-curated by Kristin Carman Miller and Beth McNeill. A live music event will be held on April 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. Film screenings adnd artist talks by Casado and Capton on April 19 from 5 to 8 p.m.

"TAPP FRANCKE: THIS IS YOU" has a Reception on April 19 at gallery nine5 in Nolita. The exhibition continues through May 11. The solo show features works in the artist's latest mirror series. Tapp Francke lives and works in Southampton, NY and NYC.

APRIL 24 (THURSDAY)

"APRIL GORNIK: RECENT PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS" has an Opening Reception on April 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Danese Corey in Chelsea.  The exhibition continues through May 31. "DONALD SULTAN: ARTIFICE" has an Opening Reception on April 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ryan Lee in Chelsea at it's new expanded location. The exhibition presents eight paintings that introduce new imagery to Sultan's artistic practice plus variations on his signature poppy and lantern flower patterns. Sultan is based in the Hamptons.

APRIL 12 (SATURDAY)

“SOMETIMES THERE ARE NO RULES” – A solo exhibition by Yolanda Sánchez closes on April 12. This is the artist’s fourth solo show at the gallery. Her work mixes references to the natural world with contrasting compositional structures to create imagery that this experimental and separate from narrative.

“GROUP SHOW” closes on April 19 at OK Harris in SoHo. Exhibiting works are Jean-Pierre Seguin, Steven Corsano, Tino Zago, Robert Ginder, Randy Dudley and Shoichi Akutsu. Steven Corsano is based in East Hampton, NY and NYC.

APRIL 26 (SATURDAY)

"JULIAN SCHNABEL: FLAG PAINTING" closes on April 26 at KARMA in NoHo. The exhibition features new works that use found flags as canvas. To accompany the exhibition, KARMA published the monograph "Draw A Family which covers 40 years of Schnabel's practice. Schnabel lives in Montauk.

“A SENSE OF PLACE: IMAGES OF NEW YORK” closes on April 26 at Birnam Wood Galleries in Chelsea. Exhibiting artists are Ramon Espantaleon, Susan Grossman, John Hardy, Beth O’Donnell, Clifford Smith, Fred Stein and Andrew Kertesz. Beth O’Donnell is based in East Hampton, NY and Brooklyn.

CONTINUING

“ALLAN WEXLER: BREAKING GROUND” continues through May 3 at Ronald Feldman Fine Arts in SoHo. The solo show presents a series of hand-worked photo-based digital prints and sculpture which continues the artist’s exploration of the forms, functions and meanings of what is built by mankind and our relationship to natural world and the marks placed on the landscape. Allan Wexler is based on the North Fork.
