Celebrations are the thoughts of the week and the art world is no exception. There are multiple ways to get your art and culture fix on the East End of Long Island. Here's what's going on this weekend:
AMAGANSETT
NEOTERIC FINE ART - “Poetry Night” takes place tonight (Thursday) at 6 p.m. The spoken, culinary, and visual art show is hosted by Tyler Armstrong. Food will be by Balsam Farms and cooked by Armstrong. The featured poet is Lucas Hunt with readings by L. Lukas Ortiz, Amy Cammel, Emma Macwhinnie, and Tyler Armstrong. ALEX FERRONE PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY – “Small Works, Big Gifts” opens on Tuesday (Dec. 17) at 11:00 a.m. and remains on view through Jan. 12. A reception and holiday toast will be held on Dec. 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibition features 60+ framed works 14 inches or smaller. Participating artists include Carolyn Conrad, Steve Berger, Ray Germann, Jacques LeBlanc, Alex Ferrone, Meryl Spiegel, Mary Trentalange and more. Visitors are urged to bring one or two personal care products to donate to families in need through C.A.S.T. Southold Town. CANIO'S BOOKS - "Lend A Hand & Holiday Party" to Support Canio's Cultural Cafe based in Canio's Books. PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “The Artist’s View” discussions will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. Artists Rossa Cole, Virva Hinnemo, Tucker Marder, and Christine Sciulli will lead a discussion in the galleries for the current exhibition, “Artists Choose Artists.” The exhibition remains on view through Jan. 19, 2014.
