MIAMI BEACH, FL-

Scope Miami opened an expanded fair with a new director at its helm, a new location, and a new goal to increase the quality and profile of the satellite art fair to Art Basel Miami Beach. Sharing the same stretch of sand with Art Untitled, Scope Miami aimed for beach happiness with an outdoor beach lounge for relaxing, plenty of art worth seeing and a partnership with VH1 to make the nights groovy.

This year's Miami Beach edition featured 70,000 square feet of art with 100 international galleries and 20 Breeder Program galleries, according to the art fair. At the helm for 2013 is Katelijne De Backer, Scope's new Director of Exhibition Relations. De Backer is known for her 12-year run at The Armory Show in New York City.

The art fair featured a wide range of mediums with a distinctive international flair. Following is a quick look at Scope Miami Beach's opening on Dec. 3.
