HAMPTONS & NORTH FORK, NY-

Special events take center stage this weekend in the Villages of Southampton, Sag Harbor and East Hampton. Southampton SeptemberFest launches Friday night with cultural activities and other types of fun stretching through Sunday. The Sag Harbor American Music Festival offers free live music in a variety of venues in Sag Harbor. In East Hampton, The Moby Project makes its inaugural appearance with a pair of art exhibitions and art performances. Following is this week's list of new art exhibitions and openings.

AMAGANSETT 

NEOTERIC FINE ART - “THE MOBY PROJECT” has an Opening Reception on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 6. The exhibition, organized by Janet Goleas, features the work of contemporary artists responding to Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. A related exhibition is being simultaneously presented at the Mulford Farm in East Hampton Village. For information, visit  www.themobyproject.com.

ALEX FERRONE PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY - “Lines” by Jim Sabiston and Alex Vignoli has an Opening Reception on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. The show features photographs of ordinary objects made striking through the use of prominent line. EAST HAMPTON

LAWRENCE FINE ART - “Left Bank Brooklyn” by Karl Klingbiel and Robert Szot opens Saturday and has an Artist Reception on Oct. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. Klingbiel and Szot are Abstract Expressionist painters. The gallery is located at 37 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937. www.lawrence-fine-arts.com

MULFORD FARM  - “THE MOBY PROJECT” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 6. The exhibition, organized by Janet Goleas, features the work of contemporary artists responding to Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. SAG HARBOR

DODDS AND EDER - “Kingdom Animalia” has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition remains on view through Nov. 10. The exhibition features work portraying a diverse range of mammals, reptiles and birds. Exhibiting artists include Caitlyn Shea, Colin Goldberg, Dan Welden, David Bonagurio, Llewelynn Fletcher, Marc Dimov, Rachel Meuler, Randy Willier, Roz Dimon, Scott Bluedorn, Steve Miller, Vito DeVito, and Will Ryan. The show was curated by Kathy Zeiger.

SOUTHAMPTON

SOUTHAMPTON CENTER - "Chas Addams: Family and Friends" has an Opening Reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Addams is a cartoonist known for the creation of the Addams family. Southampton Center is located at 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton, NY 11968. www.southamptoncenter.org.

WATER MILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Salon Series: Michael Brown” takes place on Friday at 6 p.m. and launches the museum's new classical music series. Brown is a pianist and composer that often combines classics with contemporary and original works. Admission is $20, $10 for members.
