This weekend brings new art openings and the first Pechakucha night at the new Parrish Art Museum. Here's what's new in the art scene:

BRIDGEHAMPTON

PETER MARCELLE GALLERY - “David Slater: Work of the 1960s & 1970s” has an opening reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The artist is known for colorful mixed media paintings featuring abstracted figures and symbolic imagery. EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

ERIC FIRESTONE GALLERY- "Gregory Johnston - New Works" has an opening reception on Sat from 4 to 7 p.m. The abstract works combine Johnston's love of cars and the thrill of Grand Prix racing with color field theory and geometric abstraction. GUILD HALL - Artist Talk by John Berg at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Berg's work as an art director for Columbia Records is the subject of a solo show currently on view at Guild Hall Museum. The museum is located at 158 Main Street, East Hampton, NY.

SOUTHAMPTON

SOUTHAMPTON ARTISTS ASSOCIATION - “Art Show Thanksgiving Week” has an opening reception on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m at the Southampton Cultural Center’s Levitas Center for the Arts. The show runs from Nov 14 through Nov 26 (closed Thanksgiving Day). The gallery is located at 25 Pond Lane, Southampton, NY.

WATER MILL

PARRISH ART MUSEUM - “Pechakucha Night Hamptons” takes place tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m. in the Lichtenstein Theater. Pechakucha Night (formerly known as “Lightning Round”) involves a series of rapid-fire audio and visual presentations by ten participants, followed by a reception. Admission is $5 for members, $10 for non-members.  The museum is located at 279 Montauk Highway, Water Mill, NY.
