“Starving” to Successful Artist Workshop: Learn How to Get into Galleries & Sell Your Art is based on the book of the same name written by Jason Horejs, who leads the workshop.

During the “Starving to Successful” artist workshop, participants will learn how to choose and approach a gallery successfully, the importance of proper portfolio presentation, how to price and display work, and which marketing and promotional avenues yield the best results for visual artists.

The workshop is also designed to offer an opportunity to meet and network with other visual artists from the area.

Jason will take individual questions and offer portfolio reviews for a truly personalized experience. His goal is that every artist walks away from the seminar feeling reenergized, confident, and prepared to further their art career and reach their personal goals.

Jason’s experiences as a gallery owner inspired him to write his first book, “Starving” to Successful: The Fine Artist’s Guide to Getting into Galleries and Selling More Art. He noticed that there was limited information available to artists concerning the art gallery circuit and virtually no practical advice for them to follow when embarking on the intimidating journey of seeking gallery representation.

The book quickly became an Amazon.com bestseller and artists began contacting Jason seeking further advice. In response, he created the “Starving” to Successful Artist Workshop as a way to provide further information in an interactive environment while allowing participants to ask personal questions, engage in portfolio reviews, and network with other local artists during a convenient, four-hour time slot.

Jason Horejs has been rooted in the art world since birth. Growing up in galleries with a professional artist father, he experienced an artist’s trials, tribulations, and ultimate successes first hand. At age 17, he entered the gallery circuit as a sales associate and was hooked after his first art sale. Today, he and his wife Carrie own Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona, successfully representing fine artists of various styles and mediums since 2001.

Responses from artists who have taken the workshop have been consistently positive.  Here is what artists are saying about the “Starving” to Successful Artist Workshop:

“Jason is the greatest presenter. He is one of us and really knows what artists need to be successful.”    -  Jeannette P., Director, Kentucky Guild of Artists & Craftsmen

“I want to thank you for the excellent information I received at your Baltimore seminar last spring. I developed my portfolios as you had suggested and adjusted my game plan and approach as you had directed. Since then, I have acquired two new gallery relationships - one in Baltimore and one in Newport Beach. “   -  John Burk, Visual Artist, Baltimore, MD

“I was in your seminar in Knoxville this past summer, and just wanted to let you know that so far, I'm two for two!  I must admit that I didn't succeed with either gallery on the first try, but through persistence - steeled by the self confidence your seminar instilled in me - I am now represented by two new galleries in Tennessee and North Carolina.  Both galleries were my first choice in their respective areas and I have already sold a painting in the Chattanooga gallery.”  -   Joe Parrott, Visual Artist, Knoxville, TN

Jason Horejs has been asked to speak for numerous Universities and artist organizations across the country. He was invited to be this year’s keynote speaker for ArtSmart 2012. He has been a presenter for the SmARTist annual telesummit since 2010. In 2011, Horejs organized and hosted Ignition, a 2-day art business webinar featuring art experts in multiple fields. Ignition reached hundreds of artists across the US and Canada.

Dedicated to enriching the artist community and encouraging the creation of fine art in a struggling economic climate, Horejs hosts public artist workshops and webinars each month and provides a number of free informational videos for artists on the Xanadu Gallery website.

Horejs publishes a regular blog and offers a free art oriented book club to facilitate conversation among visual artists.

Xanadu Gallery is a full-service fine-art gallery that specializes in career building services for established and upcoming visual artists of all mediums and styles. Located in the heart of the Old Town Scottsdale Historic Gallery District in Arizona, Xanadu continues to thrive despite trying economic conditions.
