HAMPTONS & NORTH FORK, NY

Both Hamptons museums have art openings this weekend. "Beach Life" - a solo show of beach paintings by Eric Fischl opens at Guild Hall tomorrow (a preview is tonight coinciding with Guild Hall's summer gala). The Parrish Art Museum hosts "Under the Radar" by Alice Hope. The site-specific outdoor installation opens tomorrow at Camp Hero State Park in Montauk.

In addition, the Fifth Annual Potter's Trail features five working ceramic studios for visiting from Sag Harbor to East Hampton. The free self-guided tour takes place tomorrow.

AMAGANSETT 

ILLE ARTS GALLERY - “Seating Arrangements” has an opening reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Exhibiting artists include Don Christensen, Kurt Gumaer, Mary Heilmann, and Daniel Weiner. It is curated by Mary Heilmann. The show runs through Sept 11. The gallery is located at 216a Main Street, Amagansett, NY. www.illearts.com

CRAZY MONKEY GALLERY - "Cynthia Sobel" and "Anna Franklin" have an opening reception on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. A group show is also on view. Exhibiting gallery members Andrea McCafferty, Daniel Schoenheimer, Jana Hayden, Wilhelmina Hoe, Lance Corey, Bob Tucker, Sheila Rotner, and Diane Marxe. The show runs through August 27. BRIDGEHAMPTON

PETER MARCELLE GALLERY - "New Works by Lisa Corinne Davis" has an opening reception on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The show is presented by Gavin Spanierman. It remains on view through Aug 19. The gallery is located at 2411 Main St, Bridgehampton, NY.

EAST HAMPTON/SPRINGS 

GUILD HALL MUSEUM - "Beach Life" - A solo show of paintings by Eric Fischl has an opening reception on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. The show runs through Oct 14, 2012. Also on view is the photography portfolio “America: Now + Here.” The project was conceived and spearheaded by Fischl.

A Gala Preview will be held tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. For tickets and information, email [email protected]. An illustrated lecture will be presented by Eric Fischl on Wednesday (Aug 15) at 8 p.m. in the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall. QF GALLERY - "I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS SH&T!" is an exhibition of new media artworks curated by Karen Bookatz and Carrie Mackin. The show opened last week but remains on view through Aug 12. The gallery is located 98 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY. www.qfgallery.com.

GREENPORT

JAMESPORT

Rosalie Dimon Gallery at the Jamesport Manor Inn - Two coinciding solo shows by Dan Weldon and Elizabeth Malunowicz has an artist reception on Sunday (Aug 12) from 3 to 5 p.m. The exhibitions remain on view through Oct 31. The gallery (and the Jamesport Manor Inn) are located at 370 Manor Lane, Jamesport, NY. The Parrish Road Show at Camp Hero State Park - "Under the Radar" by Alice Hope opens on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The site-specific installation is composed of thousands of ferrite magnates and set on an asphalt strip adjacent to Camp Hero's decommissioned radar tower. SAG HARBOR

“5th Annual Potter’s Trail” takes place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free. The self-guided tour includes five working pottery studios: Joel Kaplan (potter), Phyllis Spiegel (potter), Karen Lissack (Kiki Handmade), Beverly Granger (Pots By Bebe) and Nancy Robbins (Round Pond Pottery). SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER - "Diaspora Vibe 2.0" opens its 16th annual Caribbean Crossroads Series Exhibition with a preview on Saturday during a fundraising gala held from 4 to 7 p.m. The show remains on view from Aug 11 to 26. The show is co-presented by Global Arts/Media and Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator of Miami, FL. Gala tickets are $125 and can be purchased at www.globalartsmediainc.com.

WATERMILL
